Missing boys on Staten Island
I just saw this on the news and I'm devistated! Apparently the mother was driving with two little boys 2 and 4 and somehow got caught in a flooded area. She managed to get them out of the car but they were swept out of her arms in the current and are now missing. This doesn't sound good, praying they're found alive!

Re: Missing boys on Staten Island
This story has made me sick. From what I hear there have been a lot of bodies recovered in that area of SI. My heart is breaking.

Re: Missing boys on Staten Island
I just saw that as well. Extremely heartbreaking. It definitely won't be the last heartbreaking story we hear.
This storm was so devastating to so many. We can only hope and pray for everyone.

Re: Missing boys on Staten Island
It is awful I can't imagine! She knocked on someone's door and he said he coudn't help her! I have so many questions about this. Why did she leave so late to drive her sons to get them to Brooklyn??? Was it an evac zone? My heart breaks for the mother.

She was able to ask someone for help and they turned her away?!?! That is so awful, he's going to have to live with that now.
I agree about the unanswered questions, the story I heard was very brief with zero details. I don't' fully understand how this could happen but it's a horrific tragedy regardless. Those poor babies. . .

Yes, they were in an evac zone. I heard lots of SI-ers were afraid to leave bc of looting that occurred after Irene

Between this story and the one about the nanny killing those kids- I just really don't know how to process things anymore. I really do not.

I can't either. Two other children were stabbed by their babysitter in Illinois I believe. I just can't believe it. http://www.suntimes.com/news/16062752-418/this-is-terrible.html

This mentality makes zero sense to me. If your house floods and conditions are dangerous who cares about looting?! I don't understand
P.S. This is not in reference to the woman who lost her boys. My heart breaks for her. It is in reference to the people who apparently stayed because they were afraid of looters.

I just read that they found the boys bodies too. Aside from literally crying for them and the mother I am feeling very angry that she didn't leave with them. If the reason was for "stuff" as the PP mentioned as far as avoiding looting then I am appalled really . On the other hand, it's so difficuflt for me to believe that the mother chose her and her boys lives over material things. But, still why didn't she leave? I'm sure she is living with the guilt now...it's awful, just awful.

How many people did WE see (On facebook and real life) say "meh, its not going to be as bad as they say".
Some poeple are just stupid. THEY tthink they know more than the officials. They think it wont be so bad. They think they can ride it out. Im not saying this mother did. Just that someone people think they know better, and when it gets bad, its too late and they realize they are stupid and put their lives in danger.
