Mommies of 5-6 month olds who STTN and also eat baby food, please help
I'm trying to adjust DS's schedule a bit because he seems to konk out at 8pm and we have to wake him for his last bottle at 9:30. From what I have read he should be able to sleep from 8:30pm-6:30am without a problem. The issue with this is it puts DS's last 2 feeds really close together. Would also like to get him on a 4 hr feeding schedule instead of a 3 hour (6.5 oz) schedule since he always gets thrown off and lately hasn't wanted full bottles for some of the feedings and we are throwing a lot away. Now that he's eating 2.5 oz of babyfood 2x per day, it's also throwing things off. Here is what I was thinking:
6:30am wake up, 7-8oz of formula 10am 2.5 oz of baby food (full jar) 10:30am 4 oz formula 2pm 7-8oz formula 6pm rice cereal/baby food 8:30pm 7-8 oz formula and then sleep
How does this look? I should mention he is 17 pounds currently and is 5 months, 3 weeks old. Should I give him a small bottle after the 6pm feed? Also should mention too, he is a reflux baby. Is 7-8 oz too much at bedtime (he is medicated and sleeps with a wedge). Please help. Thanks!

I would not wake him at 9:30 for that bottle!
Tyler gets bottles every three hours and eats three meals inbetween.
This is what I would do if I were you: 6:30 wake and bottle 9am - jar of food 10am - bottle 1/1:30 - bottle 4 - Jar of food 5p - small bottle (4 ounces) - only if he seems hungry though! 6:30 - full bottle.

I would not wake him for the last bottle!!!
My kids get a bottle about an hour to an hour and half after dinner. Although if they eat dinner late, it doesn't matter they still want the bottle by 7:30-8pm. I give them their last bottle then. Even if they eat dinner at 6:30......they are asleep before 8.

Eating every 3 hours isnt an option because he's not interested in his full bottle every 3 hours...especially with solids.
Any other sample schedules? Today was a disaster!

How often does he want to eat his bottles? Why was it a disaster? Also, I will say this, that when starting them on solids it's not a requirement to feed them three jarred meals a day. Today for example with all the running around we did for my older son, Tyler only had solids at lunchtime. I don't force the issue. If I can get to a meal then great - if not, it's no big deal.
Either way I would not wake him for a 9:30 bottle. He does not need it no matter how many solids he is taking in a day!

Or if someone could give me a guideline of how much formula a 5-6 month old should be taking that would be great. the 2.5 per pound thing never worked for us...its practically unobtainable with his weight. he would have to drink 10.5 oz of formula every 4 hours and i can honestly say, with solids in the picture he hasnt wanted more than 4 oz after a babyfood feeding.

Re: Mommies of 5-6 month olds who STTN and also eat baby food, please help
We are in a similar situation. DD (6.5 months) was eating every 3 hours. When she was getting solids once a day (in the morning) it still worked okay but now that we've introduced another serving of solids it seems like she's eating too much. Lately she's been leaving a lot more formula behind in her bottle and spitting up. So I'm trying to adjust her schedule accordingly. Here's what we've been doing recently:
7:00 am - 6.5 oz bottle 11:00 am - 6 oz bottle, fruit & cereal 2:30/3:00 - 6 oz bottle 5ish - veggie & cereal, if she still seems hungry I may give her a little fruit as well. Sometimes some water mixed with juice at this time too. 7:00/7:30 - 7 oz bottle
Beforehand she was getting a bottle along with her solids at 5 pm and the 2:30/3 feeding was done at 2.
ETA: Although we just started this schedule she still ocassionally leaves formula behind so she is at times taking probably 5 -5.5 oz. At her 6 month visit last week, ped was ok with the amount of bottles/feedings.

DS is 5 months old and about 17 lbs. He wakes anywhere from 7am-8am depending on the day (if he wakes earlier we bring in him to our bed and he falls back asleep). His feeding schedule is:
7 oz bottles at 8am, 12pm, 4pm, and 8pm 1/2 jar of fruit plus 2 tbsp of cereal at either 10am or 2pm 1 jar of veggies at 6pm
We just started the 4 hours apart last week and it is working better each day.
FYI, we stopped feeding him his cereal first and then his bottle because he wouldn't take the bottle. At their age, it is more important to drink the bottle than eat the solids.

Maybe try moving his 6pm food up to 5pm and then do a bottle about 7pm? That way it has time to settle before he falls asleep.
