Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
organic mom here I use tushies natural wipes (1 wipe for pee, 2 or more for poo), vaseline, and 7th gen diapers...
if he gets a rash (very rare), I use baby bee's diaper creme (it contains zinc oxide).
I think our success with lack of rashes really has to do with the 7th gen diapers... I've read that they're more 'breathable' than other brands and babies are less prone to rashes in them....

I don't always use a baby wipe if it's just urine. I do always use a diaper rash cream as a preventative measure.

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
I used Aquaphor for every diaper change in the beginning (never had a diaper rash) b/c they used it in the NICU and I LOVED it. Now I just use Especially for BabyPertroleum jelly (essentially vaseline that smells like baby powder) have no problems with that either. I highly recommend Aquaphor.

I only use wipes after an overnight diaper and when they poop. I've never used diaper rash ointment with every diaper change. I just make sure I change the diaper regularly. My older only had a rash once and the youngest never.
Pampers Swaddlers, then Cruisers Huggies Sensitive Wipes Butt Paste (when my son had a rash)

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
I used Swaddlers until he outgrew them and then pampers. I used Huggies wipes. Only wiped if he had poop. Used Burt's Bees diaper cream at every change. As soon as the diaper was full of pee, I changed it. I never let it go longer than 2 hours, except at night.
DS never had a rash.

7th gen diapers are cheapest on amazon.com. If you subscribe to their automatic shipment program (which you can cancel or modify anytime), you get 15% off... it's free shipping and arrives within 48 hours.... tushies you can get at diapers.com.... I usually buy it along with my earth's best formula, so shipping is free.
burts bees is cheapest, believe it or not, at fairway (I go there every week).
oh, and if you buy 7th gen... some moms say their diapers run smaller than other brands (I wouldn't know, becuase I've only used 7th gen). At any rate, DS is very skinny and tall, and for him, they run true to size.. so you might want to order one size up if your sons are in the middle of the recommend weight range...

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
I use Pampers diapers and wipes.
I use a wipe at every changing...sometimes I don't if it's the middle of the might and he's still sleepy. I don't want the cold wipe to wake him up more.
I don't use any creams on him. He has never had a rash but has had a yeast infection...at least that's what the ped called it...he was never tested for it though.

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
I've used mostly Pampers swaddlers then cruisers and Pampers sensitive wipes at first, then moved to the unscented. He has barely ever had diaper rash since he's been born. I'll use Balmex if he does have a red tushie though. I think part of not having that many rashes is just luck too!

In the beginning I used Pampers sensitive wipes and A&D at every diaper change.
I have switched to the BJs wipes but I still use wipes and A&D at every diaper change.
DS has never had a diaper rash

Same here....I use pampers sensitive (I still use it with my 19 month old as well)
If there is a little red on their hiney, or in the crease of their legs, I will use aquaphor. If the rash seems to be getting bad, I use the triple paste. It clears it up right away.

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
For every diaper change I first use the wet wipes and then I use a tissue to dry him off. I feel that I would not want to sit in pee and that it would irritate me so I use a wet wipe for it. I use a couple of wet wipes for poop. I then use the dry tissue b/c I would not want a wet bottom. I then use a&d cream. We use Pampers crusers. I can count on one hand the number of times DS has had any irritations. He is 17 months old.

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
If it is just pee I use one wipe and most times put A&D or aquaphor on him. If it is poo I use many wipes. I also then was him with water and baby soap, dry him, and then put on his diaper.
If it is a rash I use some cream with zinc oxide in it.
I always use Huggies diapers and Huggies sensitive wipes.

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
i don't always use wipes if it's just pee (i make sure his tush is dry) and if it's a dirty diaper, i use pampers sensitive wipes (or whatever alcohol-free, fragrance-free wipes are on sale). i use desitin if his tush looks red, otherwise i leave it alone. 4 months and so far no diaper rashes.
he did have a time where his tush looked redder than normal, and desitin wasn't helping, so i used butt paste, but he's never had an actual rash.

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
If hes a little red I use Balmex or Desitin but for all other changes I use A&D. I do skip sometimes, like if I know he pooped in the a.m. and I'm pretty confident he won't poop again, I'll get lazy and use nothing.
eta: i use wipes every change...unless I'm in a super rush and he just had pee, i've skipped using the wipes once or twice

Re: Mommies of boys...diaper related
when he was really little Pampers Sensitive Wipes and A&D at every change.
Now sometimes if it's just urine, I will not use anything, sometimes I will.
If I feel he needs it, I will use A&D. (a little red or chaffed)
If there is a rash, we bust out the desitin or Butt Paste and do a lot of rinsing in the sink/tub so as not to irritate it too much.
