Mommy confession
Even though it was a little chilly and raining outside yesterday, when I picked up Alex from school and brought her outside, instead of tucking her in the car right away, I looked at her fascinated, and beaming face as the rain touched down on her face, and as she stretched her hands out wide to catch it, I decided to put her down on the ground, and let her play in the rain, jumping in puddles, screaming happily as she ran in circles with her arms stretched out and her face tipped up to the sky to catch the rain, for a full 25 minutes.
We came home and she was soaked and covered in mud. Dh raised his eyebrows for a moment, but eh, sometimes kids just need to be kids, right?

What a great mommy you are for letting her do that! She probably looked adorable. I know the first time I put ds in the shower he tried to catch the water also. It is so cute

I agree with you. I enjoyed that so much as a child. I can just imagine how happy Alex was. You are very nice mommy.

Re: Mommy confession
I have to admit, I had just as much fun as she did. First thing she did when I put her down was to run back to me, grabbed my hand, and made me run in circles in the rain with her
I have to say, I absolutely LOVE having a toddler

Re: Mommy confession
I think it's great letting kids be kids. I went to the lake last weekend with DS. He wanted to walk ankle-deep in the water. My logical brain was thinking "NO!, you'll get your shoes wet!", but the daddy in me thought "Ah, they'll dry eventually, and he's having fun."
You know what?.... the shoes dried, and he had fun, and that's all that really matters.

Re: Mommy confession
What I love is that you let her just be her and enjoy all the things that we take for granted as adults. It's amazing to see how facinated kids get over things...we find rain to be annoying but they take pure joy in it.
I bet it was a beautiful moment for you!

That's great!!!
I take Jordana to the park after it rains sometimes. I think its part of being a kid to play in the puddles. See, I do it too! Image Attachment(s):
