Re: Moms...
It depends how old the baby is. I would never leave her now for a trip like that but maybe one day.... But I did go away with my mom and brother for the weekend once and left her with dh. I missed her like crazy, but it was nice for me to be all about me for a little while. If you are saying it is about the way she acts without her husband, I think that is a different issue.

Re: Moms...
I see no problem with it. In fact I've been away with my friends twice since Ds was born. I went to AC for 2 nights when he was 6 months and then to RI shore for 2 nights when he was 10 months.

Re: Moms...
Its nice to have "me" time but only she knows about her behavior you know. If she is just hanging with the girls she should go have fun. If she is going out getting plastered pretending to have no husband, kids etc hooking up with guys thats not cool.

Re: Moms...
I'm going to Miami/Key West/Vegas (haven't decided which yet) with my friends. I'm married and have a kid, they are both married, one has 2 kids.
I see nothing wrong with it. We are not going down to do Girls Gone Wild. We are going to relax and enjoy ourselves.

I went to PR in October with the girls and had a great time. It was nice to get away for a few days.

Re: Moms...
I know everyone deserves time to themselves. But personally, i couldn't leave my DH behind and go alone. I love sharing every aspect of my life with him, vacations too.
For me right now, family time is important. We both have hobbies/our own thing, but vacations are either a family thing or a me and DH thing.

Re: Moms...
One of my favorite weekends this year has been going away for a spa weekend for a break away from DH and my DS to have some ME time for the first time in over a year. I DEFINITELY think it's OK, and I'm the type of mom that has never left my son with a babysitter!

There is nothing wrong with it!!! As long as you are having a good time with friends not out 'acting single' it's fine.
Can I come?

Re: Moms...
Yup, we need time to ourselves. I went away for 1 night with a friend and come back feeling completely refreshed!
DH did a great job and it afforded him some bonding time.
Taking time to take care of yourself is still important! I love DS more than I ever thought possible, but love my moments alone, too!

Re: Moms...
I don't think it's my place to judge what works for other people's marriages and families. If everyone is healthy and happy, they should do what works for them. I thought it was odd that one of my friends took lots of weekend trips without her kids when they were small. I found out much later that she had a bad bout of PP depression with the first, so much so that they hired help after baby #2. So for her, maybe getting away and getting a break from the kids makes her a better mom. She's a SAHM.
For me, I don't see myself going away without DH and DS while he is small, but later, when he is older and a little more self sufficient, I can see driving somewhere for a weekend without them. As far as flying somewhere, if I'm spending that much $$ for a vacation away, it will involve my family.

Well it depends..... As long as you are not "embarrassed" the next day by your behavior or worry that some pics could be posting online then there are no issues.
Have a good time! You need your "me" time.
haha, I don't drink anymore
but its not me.. I would never go to Miami for a weekend without my husband and baby.. I did all of that pre Sofia..
so did I! But it's funny you should mention this...I am heading to miami the weekend after next with 4 other girlfriends for a few days away.
Personally I don't see ANYTHING wrong with it. My whole life is dedicated to my family - and being a SAHM the only way I get a real day off is if I go away. It doesn't take away from the vacation time I do have with my family - I am lucky enough to have both.

This is how I feel - but- that doesn't mean it isn't right for someone else it just isn't right for me - for us vacations are family bonding time I got all that out before DD.

Re: Moms...
I think it is fine but that does depend on the person, what their intentions are and how attentive they are when they are with their child. If they go out all weekend when they are at home, then they don't need the Miami trip. If it is truly to take a break, then it is a nice thing to do.

Re: Moms...
I would not have a problem if DH didn't mind watching DS. He probably would, I would just need to reciprocate for a ski weekend or something he wanted to do.
I would miss my little guy, but I dont' think there is anything wrong with this.
Hmmm, sounds great actually.

Re: Moms...
I think it's great, and I would given the chance.
I don't think I would hire someone and have to pay $$$ to have someone watch dc but if dh & family members could cover it I'd go.
IMO you don't stop being everything else once your a "MOM".
I believe you can be an employee, wife, sister, friend, daughter, AND a mom all at the same time!
