Moms making baby food... Freezing ???
Question... When you freeze purees in ice cube trays, do you do the straight puree or thin it down with water/breastmilk/formula?
I've just started Nolan on sweet potato for his first solid, other than cereal. I froze the straight puree thinking I'll add the breast milk as he eats it because his consistancy preference will change by the time I get to the last cube.
Does the frozen puree thaw thinner, thicker or the same as you froze it?
Another question... What is your thawing procedure... in the fridge the day before? Put a frozen cube in a glass jar and heat on stove in water?
Thanks!

I usually thinned it out first, but I think you can do it either way. I never thinned with BF even though I EBF just because I haaaaate pumping and avoid it at all costs!
After I froze in trays, I would put the cubes in some take and toss bowls with the covers (it fit 3 perfectly) and the extra in ziploc freezer bags. At night, I would take a few bowls out of the freezer and put them in the fridge for the next day. If I forgot or needed more food and needed it defrosted quick, I would put cubes in a glass jar and let it steam in the beaba cook. If you don't have this, you could put it in a pan with water or microwave (i think). I have also filled a bowl in the sink with hot water and warmed food that way too (if it was partially thawed - it made it go a lot faster!
there are some tips on wholesomebabyfood.com too
