Moms of 2: did you go to Kindergarten orientation?
If your youngest is going to the same school as the oldest, did you go to the K- orientation for your youngest child's school year? I skipped my youngest's yesterday and now thinking maybe I should have gone....

Re: Moms of 2: did you go to Kindergarten orientation?
I just got the invite for 'kindergarten Tea' for DD2. I am not going to this meeting as it is just for parents (not the kids) and will be about meeting the teachers and basic curriculum. I am familiar with everything they will discuss already.
Once she is her K class, I will of course go to whatever orientations the teacher has.

I went both times. Me and some other repeat parents gave some tips to the new parents.

I am going with my DS tomorrow. It is more for him to feel like a "big boy" then for me.

That's how I felt, but my daughter is already in that school's Pre-K class so she knows she will be moving on to the next grade in the same school, just like her big brother.

The one where DS goes to- yes we did that again. He loved it!! Even though it was only 15 minutes of his day!
The one for parents only - I will skip.

I went to my DS and plan on going to DD. I know the shtick already but I think it's good to meet new parents/kids.

Re: Moms of 2: did you go to Kindergarten orientation?
If I could take the day off I would go, but I save my days for DS#1's doctor appointments.
My mom is taking DS#2 to Kindergarten orientation. I think she will really enjoy this. So it's win-win

Yes. We made a big deal about DD #1's orientation 2 years ago so want DD#2 to feel the same way. DH and I plan on taking the day off and taking her out to lunch just the three of us. Its rare that my kids get alone time with us so we are all looking forward to it. Will do the same for my son.

I did.
If you didn't make this one, arrange to bring them in to meet the teacher during the last few weeks of summer (call to see if your school does this, I believe most do). It can ease a lot of anxiety.

You mean you know NOW who is going to be their teacher next year?? Or you mean take her end of summer because that's when it will be announced which teacher it will be?
We are not going to know until a few weeks before school starts.

Actually the teachers in our school got a list before the end of school. The only reason I know is my nephew dated my dd's teacher's daughter. The list isn't solidified until the end of the summer. Kids drop out, kids move into the district, they shuffle the difficult kids with some easy going kids, teachers change grades, etc.
I meant to take her in at the end of summer.
When you say you skipped it, did you mean she went with someone else or not at all?
My kids had them go on a bus ride while the principal talked the parents. Then we all went down to the classrooms, etc.

Re: Moms of 2: did you go to Kindergarten orientation?
I went the first time, didnt go the second time. Not sure if I will go the 3rd time. Our "orientation" is for parents only.
In August, the teachers invite the children to come see the room and meet them, and absolutely YES I went both times so far and will go again.
