Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
which one is an "easier" child and baby... which one was less needy as a baby, toddler etc... Just curious to see if there is a majority winner or not...

They both have their moments. DS cried for the first four months of his life, but DD was always pretty easy-going. Now they are both smiley and happy babies. DS tends to be more needy.

Neither one was particularly difficult as a baby, but dd was much easier as a toddler and now that they are older. Not that ds is naughty, he's just more likely to test limits than dd is.

Re: Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
ok well my DS is only 8 wks and my DD is 2 yrs old so i can't offer much but i will compare them as newborns. they are night and day. DD was colicky, unsettled and quite serious once she did stop all her crying. she did not coo and "talk" and smile very early on. DS is so much more easy going than she is! it's unreal. they are so different. he "talks" and coos and smiles. he is a sweet baby in comparison! i am SOOO interested to see what kind of toddler he is though after being such a nice baby! this is b/c DD is a fantastic toddler after being a PITA as a newborn! not sure it's all gender related though!

Re: Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
Both were dream babies. So easy going, not fussy, ate well, slept well.
DS continued that pattern and is still pretty easy going, with some child tantrums thrown in.
DD? Forget about it! Major trouble since she turned 1!!!! She cries all the time, screeches, screams, fights, etc... She does have some nice moments too, but sometimes the bad outweighs the good! She still sleeps well though, so I am thankful for that.

Re: Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
my ds gave me lots of heartache up until he was 4 1/2 months old with serious colic..after that he was a dream, and still is most of the time.. my dd was EASY AS PIE in the beginning, and for the most part, still is, but DEFINATELY has much more attitude then my ds did...shes definately "harder"

I have 2 girls and thier personalities were night and day as babies. Madelyn was a pretty easy baby while Eliza was a crankpot for a full 8 weeks, then become a lovey.

Re: Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
I don't have a terms of comparison yet, but my DS is a difficult child. He has been pretty much since the day he was born. He was colic as a baby and now he can be really defiant. He loves to test his boundaries, but it's not in an inquistive way, it more that he's constantly trying to see if he can get one over on you. He is extremely smart and can be really well behaved when he feels like it, but he can really push you to the point where you think you may lose your mind! But in fairness, I truly don't believe it has ANYTHING to do with the fact that he's a boy. I really think each child is an individual and has their personality.

Re: Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
DD was always a very serious baby and is still a very serious toddler. It's really hard to get her to smile or laugh (although as she gets older it's getting a little easier.) She's incredibly smart, demanding, needs control, is not affectionate but is a well behaved and such a good girl. She was and still is extremely routine. Stay on schedule and she's really easy.
DS came out smiling and still is. He's always happy and extremely affectionate. He has such charm and charisma. Complete opposite of DD. He was always easy going and happy, but he had reflux and was hard to feed. So he was more demanding because of that as a baby. He also didn't sleep through the night until 15 months vs DD who was 6 weeks (yes weeks!) He is my terror though. He doesn't listen at all. He gets into everything and torments his sister. He's an attention seeker. He does it all with a smile so it's hard to get mad.

Re: Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
The only real difference I see is that Grace is a very needy baby. Joey was content to be in his swing, lay on his gymini or in his bouncer, sit on someone's lap, etc. Grace has to be held 24/7, she hates every baby product we have tried.

Re: Moms of both boys and girls...non scientific experiment
I have boy/girl twins and I think my son is easier than my daughter.
When they were first born, it was opposite. They are about 3 1/2 months old now.

I have two boys and a girl. All of them were very good babies, but DD is really the best and easiest so far.

I have 3 so I don't know how to factor this.
Firstborn (boy) - hardest one as a newborn. Not a needy toddler but very strong willed and still my most challenging. Middle (girl) - easier baby, easy toddler Youngest (boy) - easiest baby, an angel from birth to 3. Hit 3, turned into a defiant toddler
