moms of boys...potty issue...pee shield.
I think I need a new potty...one with a taller shield. He likes to go in bathroom, close door and pee in private...but I am guessing he has his junk sitting on shield since he's peeing in front of potty.
I remind him to stick in down...he says yes, then the mess.
tia!
ETA: also, he is sitting there, peeing...does this still warrent an M&M? He comes out so proud I don't have the heart to turn his candy loving heiny away!

I would keep showing him how to hold it down while he pee's, yes *I* showed DS how to pee on the potty . For some reason DS didn't like the shield their so I never used it.

Re: moms of boys...potty issue...pee shield.
I had this problem especially when ds really had to go - it was like there was more force and he really had to know to hold it down. We switched to the Bjorn potty (the larger one) and have had less problems. I find he has had the least probs since we switched to the big potty with the insert - the seat is bigger and he has more room to move around and point it down I am still a firm believer in using an actual potty though - it really helped ds who would rather be playing that thinking about potty time

Re: moms of boys...potty issue...pee shield.
With the traditional character insert seat - we have no issues. With the insert from the potty seat (white seat and blue shield - not sure brand) - we have issues now matter how much he tucks or holds it down - it has like a rebound effect. He now is trained to put toilet paper on top if he is using the issue seat.....soaks it up.
PS - He pees standing but when he does poopie and pees then, he still uses the insert. Sorry if too much info. Although peeing standing up - is worse of a mess. He somehow sprayed the entire dry clean only shower curtain the other day (urgh!!), the floor is always wet, the back of the seat, forgets to lift the seat, etc. He is always in a rush.

Re: moms of boys...potty issue...pee shield.
My mom suggested that I turn my son around on the potty....for some reason, it helps their peepee to point down, and it for some reason it goes up, at least its all over the top of the seat, and not all over everything else in the bathroom...this is on the real toilet though.

He just told me he has to poop and went in there and closed the door. I never know what I am going to find once he opens that door!
