Moms of girls....

...did you/are you planning to pierce their ears?

My DD is almost a year old and the thought honestly never crossed my mind.
I think it's because I don't have my ears pierced (I had some bad infections and let them heal up and just never re -did them)
I was just never that into earrings for myself- and always had long hair that covered them anyway so to me, earrings are just a non issue. I don't even think about them.

I don't want to do my DD a disservice by not piercing her ears as a baby, but then again I am thinking maybe I should wait until she is old enough to decide for herself that she wants them pierced?

Just curious what others do...

Nope. I hate putting her through the pain of shots I don't want to put her through pain that isn't necessary.

I'll let her decide if she wants them done or not.. it's not my place to decide.

The tattoo I'm getting her, on the otherhand, is a compeltely different story...

both DD's were pierced at 4 months.. for me personally my mom waited for me to want them. I was 8 and i will never forget the day. I was screaming and crying.. i remember the click of the gun and pain... so i figured that i would spare them the memory by doing it early

We did. Had it done at 5 months. She's 19 months now and we never had any issues.

i just got hers done a couple weeks ago! I probably would have dont it earlier if i could. No real reason for it i just wanted to have them done, and ok i figure since she has no hair she would look more like a girl

it's a cultural thing for me.. I and all the females in my family had ours done by my aunt the day we got out of the hospital (when we were born). I never thought NOT to do my girls ears when I had them.. that was a given.. I wear earrings every single day. I feel naked without them.

In my family it's a tradition to get your ears pierced for your Commuinion. Usually the godmother takes the child. I just took my niece/Goddaughter. She was a wimp. lol.

got hers done at 4 months. I was 7 when my mom let me get mine and i still remember that day like it was yesterday. I was nervous about getting dd's done so young but i am sooo happy i did it! She cried for a whole 30seconds and that was it. She is now 6 1/2 months and they are all healed and perfect plus she never even knew they were there & will have no memory of the pain.

I did it at 6 month with no regrets. She never played with them. She never got infected. She never knew they were there - at 2.5 she STILL doesn't know they are there. She had the piercing done at the peds office and got shots immediately after. It was truly no big deal. And I have said this MANY times, I do not know of ANY girl who resented her parents for making the choice for her UNLESS it was done poorly and crooked - that can happen at ANY age. I made the choice for her.

Had hers done at 4 months. It was fast and her ears were so small it barely affected her. She has had no problems with them and she doesnt know about them.

I had mine done at 6 and then had to have one re-peirced because I guess I played with them too much and it got infected. I was hoping to alleviated the memory for her.

My biggest reason is that my DD gets all my jewelry and heirlooms, it would be a waste if she couldnt wear them.

I want her to decide if she wants them. I can't make her cry when it isn't necessary.

We did it at 4 mos, never any issues planning on doing the same with DD2!

dds ears pierced at 5m. and im happy i did it. she was perfect with them. i was a wreck but they weregreat.

3 girls and waiting till they are old enough to want to get their ears pierced to have them pierced.

My older DD got them done at 8 i think, when she made the choice that she wanted them.

I was going to, but my rule was that if I did it, I had to do it before she was 6 months.

Certain circumstances happened and I wasn't able to get them done before 6 months, so she is now un-pierced.

Now I will get them done when she asks me.
