Re: Moms of girls....
No we won't pierce them until she asks. I still remember going with my sister and parents (my dad got an earring too!) to get our ears pierced and being so excited, I want to make a memory of it for DD too.

Re: Moms of girls....
I didn't pierce DD's for purely selfish reasons.
I have no desire to clean them, worry about losing them or getting infected, changing them, etc.
I think babies look absolutely adorable with them but it's just such a non-issue to me.
When she is old enough to ask for them, I will take her.

Re: Moms of girls....
Yes.. later
She has none now.. she'll be 3 soon. I wanted them earlier but my ped didn't do it and I just never got around to it, so I didn't.
Now, I guess I'll just wait until she asks.

Re: Moms of girls....
I got my DD's ears pierced when she was 2 months old. I love them. She doesnt touch them and they dont bother her at all. She cried for maybe 10 seconds and that was it and she doesnt even notice them. She cries way more when she gets her shots I never thought about not doing them. I wanted her to get them done when she was young enough to not remember. When shes older if she tells me doesnt want them anymore and I'll let the hole close...I think its easier doing it that way then the other but thats jmo

Re: Moms of girls....
we were going to, then 3 months came and 6 months and 9 months and me and my DH just couldnt bring ourselves to do it. Now she's 15 months and at this point we are going to wait till she's alittle older. I do sort of wish now I had just done it when she was around 5-6 months.

She can get her ears pierced when ever she asks and is ready. I'm leaving it up to her and will make a fun Mommy/Daughter lunch, shopping, ear piercing day of it when the time comes.

Re: Moms of girls....
Not a moment before she asks me for them.
I'm just not a fan of babies with jewelry. Just my personal taste. Probably the same reason i don't like babies wearing jeans. lol. I feel like you're only a baby for such a short while - embrace it in a onesie and a baby headband. You have the rest of your life to do all that 'grown-up' stuff

Re: Moms of girls....
I had my ears pierced when I was 4 years old and to this day it is still one of the most traumatic experiences of my childhood! I had DD's done at 3 1/2 months so she won't remember the pain that I do! Ironically, DS cried more watching her have it done than DD did. She cried for less than a minute, just like she had a shot and was totally back to normal.

Re: Moms of girls....
I had DD's pierced by her ped @ 2.5 months old. She never touched them, they healed great. She cried less than she does for shots.
My reason for wanting it done so young is based on my experiences. My dad wouldn't let my mom pierce mine when I was younger, so I didnt get it done until right before my communion. It hurt like h e l l, the took forever to heal and to this day I have problems if I wear "cheap" earrings. I do not look back at that day with found memories, and I really wish my mom had done it when I was a baby. I didn't want to put DD thru that. And I have no regrets, she looks so cute with her little pink diamond studs.

Re: Moms of girls....
I got DD's ears pierced at 4 months by the pediatrician. There was zero chance of me NOT doing it.
I just took DD shopping for new earrings this weekend... she picked pink turtles. So cute!

Re: Moms of girls....
My mom did mine when I was a baby and I never resented or regretted the decision she made. In fact, I can't recall any woman who has told me she was upset her mother had pierced her ears.
I never have a problem with earrings on my first hole, but when I had a second hole pierced in high school, it was always very sensitive and I could only wear gold backs. In fact I let them close up.
I decided to pierce DDs at 6 months (should've been 4, but I chickened out ) I did it with the pediatrician. She took it extremely well, and we've not had any issues.
That having been said, I think if I were to do it now, DD is almost 1, that she would have been more difficult about it -- she has much more of a personality and I don't think she'd have sit as still as at 6 mths.

I'll let her decide when she wants them. If it is 3 or 10 or 50. It's her choice.

Re: Moms of girls....
I was on the fence, DH oddly was the one who really wanted them done, but when I found out the peds office didn't do them, I just didn't feel comfortable taking her to a piercing booth when she was that little.
I'll let her decide now. I remember getting mine done, and yeah I remember it hurt, but also remember feeling so awesome, like I had grown up a little bit. My mom and I had a great day that day, so I look forward to that with DD if she decides she wants them.
