moms of girls with curly hair

I have no idea when to cut her hair or even how to style her hair. She looks perfectly adorable with 2 pigtails. Thats all we have done. If I leave it down it would probably just be messy. Any tips?

I cut my DD's with some layers so the curls stay bouncy. Right now it's a little past her shoulders. I'm not a fan of bangs, so she her part is off centered too.

I also wet it every am, spray it with detangler and comb it.

My DD doesn't like her hair up much, so it's down most of the time.

We did ponytails until it got longer. Now she's all about the headbands.

Her hair is probably just at her shoulders. DO you suggest layering it now or wait a few months?

Re: moms of girls with curly hair

i have no idea- DD has MAJORLY curly hair... and she won't keep anything in it- no clips, bows, pigtails.. nothing- so I just let it be.

I did when it was just at her shoulders, i only had them very lightly trim the length to even it up. She hasn't gotten a haircut in a couple months, but it's grown in nicely. I had to do it to get it cleaned up..her head looked liked a birds nest every am.

That cracked me up...birds nest...thats exactly what I say. Meanwhile I have pretty straight hair and what I go to bed with is what I wake up with. Now Gilly, she looks like shes been in a fight the morning after...LOL
I do the water like you suggested. They are beautiful telephone cord curls BUT so much work.

Re: moms of girls with curly hair

My friend's DD has TONS of beautiful curls and she usually does two small pigtails in the front, and then pulls it all back into a bigger ponytail at the back, it looks so beautifl.

Also have you tried clips and stuff?

Re: moms of girls with curly hair

My DD has Super curly hair, when she was little i just let it grow and wouldnt use product.
Now she is almost 8 and she uses and anti frizz before she goes to school.
she takes a bath at night so when she wakes up in the morning her hair can be HUGE.
its not easy...

Re: moms of girls with curly hair

My DD just turned 3 last week and I have NEVER cut her hair! I believe my MIL did when she was around 20 mos, but we'll leave that one alone Chat Icon I thought I was going to cut it this summer, but I like it when it's up anyhow, so I didn't. My DD has very curly hair, which becomes a rat's nest no matter what--so up is best.

Some of the styles she sports:
Single ponytail
Two ponytails
Half up in a ponytail
Half up in two ponytails
Bun
Occasionally just a clip or two

She wears a clip with all styles, actually.
