Moms of kids under 2...problems with brushing teeth, wdyd?
What do you do if your DC won't brush their teeth? Do you eventually force yourself on them to do it for them? Or do you just let it go? Some days DD will kind of do it. Other days she won't. But for us to do it for her, we would have to force her, she cries during, etc.
Do you just let it go or do you feel it's important enough to force yourself in there to get it done? I HATE to force her...feel it's going to start a bad memory with teeth and brushing...but yet can it really be overlooked if the DC doesn't want to do it?
I have tried it ALL btw....some days it just doesn't matter, she won't go for it.

Do you let her do it or do you try to do it?
I'm sure you have, but have you tried her fave character toothbrush.
Maybe just do a nightly routine where you brush you teeth together and let her watch you. Even if she doesn't really do it at first, do it together every, single night and maybe she'll eventually just give in and do it.
IDK, the drs will say anything is good, but I am fanatic about it. Luckily Sydnie enjoys doing it.
At least have her drink some water right before bed to wash away anything in her mouth.
Good luck, that's tough.

WE have a strange routine...The only way DD likes to do it is when she's in the tub, obviously she doesn't spit yet so she sits in the tub with her toothbrush and brushes her teeth Whatever works, it gets the job done

DS likes to brush when we brush. So, we let him. If we ask him and he doesn't want to, we don't push it. He does brush at least once a day though.
eta: My dentist also told me to let him do it on his own. Even if he is chomping on the toothbrush, he is brushing. So there is no need for us to *have* to help him.

I would keep encouraging her to do it, but would't necessarily force it everyday.

We do this too. DD is even stranger; I bought a 4 pack of kiddie tooth brushes and she uses all 4 of them while sitting in the tub. Then, I get a 'turn" with the last one for about 20 seconds.

My DD clenches her mouth shut
Even when I give her the brush, she basically sucks the toothpaste off and chucks it

DD completely refuses to let us do it. I didn't have this problem with either of my boys. So far I haven't forced it but I am starting to feel guilty and know I have to start making it part of our routine soon, whether she likes it or not!

You think like I do. I do make her at least drink some water before bed, esp if she barely brushed that night.
We have 4 toothbrushes with characters and sometimes she will have a toothbrush in each hand and "use" both.
We have a toothbrush she can brush our teeth with. We use Elmo baby toothpaste. We have tried it all. She just won't allow it some days!! We have been doing this since she got her first tooth pretty much. You would think it's new to her.
