moms of older kids (3-5 years old), I need ideas!!

My nephew will be 4 the end of May. I am his godmother, and every year I have planned a special day out, just me and him on his birthday. His 1st we went to the Queens Zoo, 2nd Atlantis Aquarium, and his 3rd the Adventureland. Now that he will be 4, I wanted to branch out a little. I was thinking the Central Park Zoo, or something else in Manhattan maybe? Any ideas??

My Friend had her daughters bday party at LI Children's Museum and it was amazing!!! He might like that!

We did the Central Park Zoo last year with family for my nephew's 2nd bday and my son was 2 1/2. To be totally honest it is very very small - we literally walked around and did the whole thing in an hr and was disappointed. The kids had a good time but not a fabulous time...

You could maybe do the zoo at central park and Victorian Gardens (also in Central Park) - rides, games...that might be really fun but of course each carries sep admission and fees...

If you want to do the city I would suggest toys r us and the m&m store as part of your day. The toys r us has a ferris wheel but I'm not sure what the age or height you have to be for it. The kids just get a kick out of the m&m store. There's also the children's museum in the city which has a dora/diego play area. We took Kiera when she was 2 and she loved it.

If you wanted to stay on Long Island there's the LICM which is really cool. There's also White Post Farms which is a lot of fun.

One more idea if he is into Shrek is to see Shrek the musical. You could make that into a day event.

Central Park Zoo was pretty cool but as the pp mentioned - it's very small. My kids loved the ferris wheel at Toys R us & they were allowed to get 1 toy - which wasn't as great of an idea considering a 5 year old can't pick a toy from the thousands there.

I would suggest Mars 2112 for lunch. I haven't been there but I know it goes over well with a lot of kids.

Otherwise definately Mars 2112 Haven't been there myself, but have friends whos DC's loved it !

My mom just told me that they do birthday parties at Central Park for $100

But that is all the info I have, but how cool is that?!?!?

The Museaum of Natural History - you can spend the entire day there.

The central park zoo is too small. We walked through the whole thing in half an hour.

How about going to the Central Park Zoo & Petting Zoo and Victorian Gardens since they are both in Central Park.

Manhattan Children's Museum is also a good choice.

Or how about the NY Hall of science...
