moms of preemies
Did/do you find that your DC is a bit slower to reach milestones than other children the same corrected age? My DS is 8 months old (5 1/2 months corrected age) and really has no desire to do anything - he can roll over both ways but has only rolled from back to belly once....the ped said that as long as he can do these things he is fine. He also has no desire to be on his belly, and cannot sit up yet (he can when he is up against the couch but not on his own) I just feel like he is developing super slow. I know I should be proud of all that he has accomplished so far, being that he was born a day shy of 30 weeks, but I can't help but worry sometimes.

Re: moms of preemies
DC was slow to reach some and on target with others. It seems like the mobility milestones are the ones that DC is slowest at. Sitting up was a little late; crawling isn't high on the list right now. (DC is 11 mos; 9 1/2 corrected.) Our ped told us that the delays aren't things to worry about yey.

I think it sounds like he is doing fine! Its hard when you compare them to babies their own "age", but a lot of 5.5 month olds aren't sitting on their own yet! My ped said to remember that when they are this little, a few weeks early and you will likely notice a difference in development, but give them time and when they are older no one will ever know they were early. BTW, how did your DS circ surgery go??

Re: moms of preemies
My eldest daughter was 4 weeks early and my twins were 5 weeks early....not really all that early. But I can remember the pediatrician telling me that that would be taken into account in regards to them meeting their milestones....
You DS seems to be well within the range of normal development.

Thanks everyone, I feel better. I think that spending the weekend with my friends baby who was born the same day my son was supposed to be born and basically seeing her crawling and sitting up made me lose perspective a little. I also think that the teacher in my gets the best of me sometimes and makes me a worry wart.
Nickipa - surgery is scheduled for Wednesday Thanks for asking!

I think that the key is to look at the overall progress. Once you start to go through a list of milestones one by one, you are sure to hit one that worries you. I think that my baby, who has an adjusted age a month behind his real age, is ahead of the game when all milestones are considered but he is quite late in 1-2 things.

Re: moms of preemies
DD was later with some milestones, such as sitting at 9 months (7 months corrected age), crawling 12 months (10 months corrected age), walking 15 months (13 months corrected age).
I tried not to stress too much, but I did find myself worring at times, but then realized she did other things "on-time" but in reality, was early if you go by corrected age. For example...she started solids at 4 months (2 months corrected age). She was on all table foods by 10 months (8 months corrected age). She was on whole milk and off bottles by 12 months (10 months corrected age).
It sounds like your DS is doing just fine
