Moms of "thin" baby girls- HELP!!

I have no idea how to dress Alexa this winter. I don't want to just keep her in footie Pj's even during the day.

Here is my dilemma. Alexa is really thin. 7 months and 14 lbs. She can STILL fir in newborn and 0-3 mos pants around her waist but they are SUPER short.

If I put her in pants that are the right lengths they fall right off.

I haven't bought any fall/winter clothes yet cause I can't figure out what to get Chat Icon

HELP!!!! I still want her to look cute, I'm so frustrated by this, summer was easy because she was in cute little dresses....

I don't have a thin girl, but a lot of my friends use those babylegs leg warmers in the winter under sweater dresses and such. HTH!

I don't have a girl either, but what about leggings with a longer shirt? I think that is such a cute, comfy look.

I have a skinny kid too, I wonder how often his pants will fall off once he is potty trained b/c the diaper keeps them upChat Icon

I hear ya!! Have the same problem with Ann - pants either fit in the waist and are highwaters or are long enough & so big at the waist the just come off of her (and the waistband is like in her armpits!)!

I would go with leggings and tunic style tops..

Leggings don't look weird if they're a bit short so you can get a size that fits her waist (and when it gets colder maybe get her a cute pair of tall boots) and a bigger size in the tops for the length. Chat Icon

Lots of dresses and warm tights. There are a lot of cord dresses at Gymboree, Old Navy and Gap. Miranda is 4 and has the same problem so she's in a lot of dresses.

Re: Moms of "thin" baby girls- HELP!!

walmart had some nice tights the other day, fairly thick material which would keep her legs warm under almost anything. dress, tunic shirt, etc. and they had them in several colors which would go with most anything.

That's Lily's problem also. She's 28 months old and can still fit into her 18 month pants...but they're too short.
Her 24 month pants are huge on her - even with the waist tightener tabs.
She's going to be in a lot of dresses and tights this winter/fall.

I've always liked overall/jumper type things. This is what I found worked best for my DD, and what I think will be best for my new baby too. Things like this:

From Gymboree:

From Crazy 8

I also agree that leggings will probably do since they are tight. Here is an outfit I love from Gymboree:

Also, I saw a bunch of leggings at Target the other day in several different colors that looked like they are pretty narrow. And don't forget, TCP runs narrow too.

Re: Moms of "thin" baby girls- HELP!!

My DD is very slim and always has been....50%tile for height but 5%tile for weight. Bottoms fitting has always been an issue. Leggings are her best friend! Pants with a flat panel in the front and elastic back (like jeans) are always falling down. Some pants with elastic all the way around will work. In winter you will have a onesie undershirt on her too so that bulks up the waist area too. Some brands are slimer cut, like Gymboree, Baby Gap, or Target, in my experience, while Children's Place is wider cut. The overalls work well too.

I have this problem too with both girls - they are taller than they are heavy so while she needs the bigger size for length they are falling off her at the waist. Leggings are a problem for us too. DD#1 can't even wear 2T leggings - they fall down (sometimes to her knees) - but she needs them for length. This has always been a problem. I put her more in things like dresses with stockings - and she does tend to wear smaller sizes for longer periods of time. DD#2 is growing the same way already - her clothes are way too big in the waist but only just long enough in length.

Look for pants with the adjustable waists those are the best- although I have them on the tightest that they will go and then they get all bunchy.

Re: Moms of "thin" baby girls- HELP!!

DD is long and lean. I love the pants with adjustable waists (I've seen them from a few places, old navy and the children's place for sure) . DD usually starts a size at least 4-5 notches pulled in on each side and is usually out of them, length wise before we get to the end of the button holes.

How about some overalls?

Abby is almost 13 months old and can still wear some 6 month sizes. She fits best in 9 month sizes, but Im not buying Fall/Winter stuff in 6-9 month sizes. I roll a lot of sleeves and cuff a lot of pants for my 18 pound 6 ounce and 29 3/4 inch long long and lean little miss.

Wal-Mart has great ones for cheap. Lots of colors.
Then there is Gymboree, Gap and Target too.
