Moms of toddlers doing their own holiday pics
OK, so I need to order holiday cards soon. I do have a shoot scheduled with Michele McFadden for holiday pics, but not in time to take advantage of the seehere.com promo.
With that said, Im going to take pics of DS myself. What should I do with DS for them? The house isnt decorated for Xmas yet and I dont know how to get him to sit still long enough to get any good shots (Im a HORRIBLE pic taker).
Any advice or ideas on this one?

I just tried today (and btw FAILED big time as he wouldnt look and smile at the same time...) but I just put him in front of my mom's fireplace. Do you have access to one? I feel like even thought it's not decorated it seems wintery.

Dress him for the season and buy a few of the LARGE ornaments, and strew them around, they're sure to grab his interest! Do you have a dollar store anywhere near you? I got bunches of them, 4 for a dollar (and they're plastic but look like glass!). Are you taking them at home or outside? Maybe you can decorate your windows and prop him on the couch for a few quick shots?

I could go either way, home or outside. I really have NO IDEA what to do. Thanks!

Re: Moms of toddlers doing their own holiday pics
See my latest post! Seriously, set up what you want to do and photograph it first. Then add the child- preferably just after they ate and not before a nap. Then add candy...
This is how I get it done each year!

Re: Moms of toddlers doing their own holiday pics
Last year we snagged a good pic of the kids on thanksgiving in front of my husbands uncles fire place. Not planned and worked great for the christmas card :)

Re: Moms of toddlers doing their own holiday pics
I never have much luck with posed holiday pictures, so I usually do a collage of three photos of DS from the year at different times of year and different stages of growth.
We did this last year, and I think it worked out well. Just wanted to mention in case the pics don't work out.
