Moms of toddlers....do you find yourself spelling things...
all the time.
Whenever I dont DD to know what I am talking about I spell out everything. Like just now...I made cupcakes last night and told DH that Im gonna cover the C U P C A K E S up so Paige doesnt see them.

Allllllll the time. I'm constantly spelling, but she has learned how to spell snack, drink and park so there's no use in spelling those things anymore

yes I have had to do that for a while now - but unfortunately I think DD is catching on to some of them - b.c DH asked me if he could get DD a c-o-o-k-i-e and she turned to him and said cookie please!

Yes! Especially when he can'tdo things we know he loves (like go outside or in the basement) or eat certain foods.

Yes but our 3 year old is onto us. I said last week to my DH that so and so was an A S S and DD turned to me and said "dont say that word mommy"

Yes !!!....But my DS got too slick...
I would ask my DH to let the D-O-G out
(when we didnt want DS to play with him before bed etc...)
One day my DS started asking me i f he could play with the D-O-G !!!
He started spelling it out to me and calling our dog D-O-G !!!!!

yes, right now we have to spell words like "paci" , "yogurt", and "fruit"... and as he learns more words we're spelling more and more...

Yes....Dora gets spelled out all the time because if you say Dora in my house someone takes the remote and wants you to change the TV to watch Dora

Yes, all the time. I actually said S-N-A-C-K the other day and DS said the word after I spelled it. I was  because he is 18 months.

I'm doomed when my kids learn how to read because right now when we walk into Target or any other store, did you know that there is always a sign that says "Little children must sit in the front of the cart and big kids that go to school must walk next to the cart." Stores also close mid-day when I'm shopping..."lets hurry up because the store is closing soon!"
Just wait until they can read the stores hours and the signage and figure out that there is no rule that you have to sit in the cart or you can't come in the store!

Y-E-S, although sometimes she looks at us and repeats what we just spelled I KNOW it's coincidence, but it freaks us out.
