Moms pg with number 2 that already have a son - does everyone assume you are hoping DC#2 is a girl?

And how annoying is that? I find myself being overly defensive and OVERLY explaining why I would LOVE either - b/c really I AM indifferent - of course i would love to one day have a girl but, i would LOVE equally for my DS to have a brother close in age - I am honestly indifferent especially since I plan to have more children god willing.

I am getting so sick of the comments that imply I am hoping or the commenter is hoping it is a girl - thank god i find out in a month and a half b/c i don't think i could deal with their dissap once DC #2 is actually here!

And really, what gives???? Why do people assume this anyway???

yep....Im having two girls...and everyone says things like oh you must be so happy its girls ..since I have a boy. But honestly, I would have liked to have had a boy to give DS a brother, plus having a boy, I realize how much I love boys etc.

i haven't had anyone tell me that, although my mom did ask DS if he "put in his order" for a baby sister Chat Icon

i would LOVE another boy. i chose to have them close in age because i wanted DS to have a "built-in" friend so to speak, and i think it would be so cool for him to have a brother.

plus i come from a family of all girls so boys are a nice change! Chat Icon

but of course i would love a little girl too.

i am blessed either way Chat Icon

Everyone assumed I wanted a girl and when they found it was another boy we got the "oh, well that's ok, you can always try for a 3rd" Chat Icon Chat Icon

Well if it make you feel any better, we have a DS and I am PG with a DD. The comment we hear most often is not congratulations but ok so now DH can get snipped. I kid you not! Seriously people just have no filter and you can't win either way.

Re: Moms pg with number 2 that already have a son - does everyone assume you are hoping DC#2 is a girl?

I too had to overly explain to people why I would love a second boy...I just thought it would be great for DS to have a baby brother, not to mention that I loved having a little boy...

Most people were really excited we were expecting another son. SOME people who didn't know me well would say things like "oh well are you gonna try for a third?". And I would reply "Well we always wanted 3 kids so a third is inevitable". And if its a third boy, so be it!! I think you get what you get, and you just pray for a healthy child. But some people are just really stupid. I let stupid comments roll off my back!

People just think you go to the store and "choose" your gender. That "are you going to try for a girl" comment is pretty stupid and makes absolutely no sense. How can you "try" for a gender. It's a 50-50 shot regardless of what you do!! I am having a girl and already have a DS, but I was getting the comments that implied that the person asking was hoping I was having a girl. That is why I almost did not even tell anyone because the comments for either are pretty annoying. If you are pg with the same gender as you have, you get the "are you going to try..." comments and if you get the opposite, you get "oh now you're done" comments. Chat Icon Chat Icon

No one has really had anything negative to say, I think mainly because I tell them right away how excited I am that it's another boy - and all I care about is that it's healthy.

yup, everyone I know wants us to have a girl and we couldn't care either way. Infact I would LOVE another boy for DS to have a little brother. I know if it's a boy, my DH side (esp my MIL and SIL) will be very disappointed as they have all boys in his family (My IL's had three boys-including my DH and now they have 4 grandsons including my DS). and my DS has six 1st and 2nd cousins under the age of 6.5 who are all boysChat Icon It seems like the Y sperm is pretty strong on that sideChat Icon so we prob dont have much hope for a girl

I have 3 girls and pg with my 4th. In the beginning it would drive me bonkers when people would say "Oh I hope it's a boy!" My whole family in convinced it's a boy. I remind them all the time that it's still 50/50 and for them to not forget that!!! I would love another girl- I really would. However, I'm starting to get used to the idea of a little boy joining our family and if that's what God is giving me then I'm ready.

yes! I am having a girl this time around but everyone always says "wow one of each..you must be so happy" I then go on to explain that another boy would have been wonderful too. Its very annoying!

Re: Moms pg with number 2 that already have a son - does everyone assume you are hoping DC#2 is a girl?

i had 4 people tell me today that "oh you are having a girl so now your family will be complete--no need to go for a third". FOUR!!!!!Chat Icon

yes, i always wanted a boy and a girl. i feel like for me, i'm getting what i always dreamed of. but i would have LOVED for #2 to be a boy as well and was a little sad that i'll never have a baby boy to take care of again. there's just something so special about a baby boy! Chat Icon

i would have been happy either way and people just can't understand that. it bothers me a little bit. and if i was having a second boy, the only way i would have tried for a third child is if we wanted one, NOT to try for a girl.

Re: Moms pg with number 2 that already have a son - does everyone assume you are hoping DC#2 is a girl?

I am pg with number 2. My first is a girl...well we just found out #2 is a boy. People assume that my husband is over the moon about a son, and that this is what we wanted. Truth be told, we both thought it was another girl and were excited for that. So, we were surprised at the boy news. However, we both said many times that we would be thrilled either way. People make so many assumptions. I am actually shocked at how people are reacting...like another girl would have been disappointing. We would have loved that too!Chat Icon

Yes and it annoys me to no end. The worst is when THEY tell ME that they're hoping for a girl. Well, I'll be sure not to bring my son around you then Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am semi-hoping for a boy - brothers 19 mos apart are just too cute to me Chat Icon A girl would be great but I'd want to put her in boarding school from ages 10-16 to work through the hormones Chat Icon
