Moms who are done having kids... question for you
Are you REALLY sentimental with everything your youngest DC does??
I was never the type of mom with Ryan to cry or get teary eyed at milestones. I was happy, but not mushy about it. I guess I knew that another baby will be here eventually and never really thought about it.
With Erin, I can cry at the thought that this will be the last time I will go through all the milestones.
For example, I just noticed this morning that she is cutting her first tooth. I d@mn near cryed! I see how fast she is growing, and I get so sad that I will never go through the "firsts" anymore.
I know that we are completely done with having more babies, and I am happy with that decision 200%, but I look at Erin and see her pulling her self up, and soon she will be walking, and I get so upset!
Anyone else?

I so understand you! I had both my sons' b-day party this weekend. My oldest son turned 5 and my youngest turned 1. I cried like a baby for more than half th party! I look and say my god where did the time go that he turned 5 and then I look at my little guy and see him pulling up and getting ready to walk.
I know that we are blessed with 3 beautiful and healthy children and we knew that we didn't want to push our luck but there are days now looking at my family that I have to admit that one more might have been nice.

Re: Moms who are done having kids... question for you
I always thought I would have more. It only VERY RECENTLY became evident that a 3rd is not in the cards for us.
And I am really upset that I didn't savor Noah's moments now that I realize that I will never have another first step, first tooth, first smile...
I am starting to really get sentimental though about other stuff... like his graduation from pre-K and whatnot.
I think it is fantastic that you are really enjoying and committing to these little things with your littlest!

Re: Moms who are done having kids... question for you
Only lately. When I had my second, five years ago, I knew I was done. Although I enjoyed her in a way that I didn't enjoy my first and although I was always mindful that I wouldn't be doing this again, it didn't really bother me until recently.
For examlple, today I was food shopping in Uncle Guiseppe's and saw a little girl in the car shopping cart that my youngest loved, holding a cookie in one hand and humming Momba Italiano with the music playing in the store, and I almost lost it. She looked just like my youngest and had our routine (cookie and singing) down pat. I just became so sad that this is pretty much over for me. When I told my husband this story tonight, he just looked puzzled and said "we could have had a third." But, that's not really what its about. The more I think about it, its more about my age, time marching on and never being back in that exact place again. That's why in the last few months, I have really made an effort to live in the moment and appreciate what I have when I have it.

Right there with you!
It's only been this past year that we decided no more so I've been savoring every moment of both of them.

same here... My youngest is now 2 and I'm not all that sentimental. I am sometimes secretly super happy that she is getting older and things are getting easier! And at times, I can't say the words we're done, because I still have thoughts of a 3rd (if only DH would change his mind!).

This "may" be our last (hubby says we are done but I don't want to be done)-so I am so savoring every detail/milestone with Kyle and trying to enjoy it to the max
