moms who coslept to make bfing easier...
Weve been bringing the baby in the bed most nights bc ive found it easier to bf in the middle of the night.... I dont have to fully wake up and I get back to sleep much easier that way!
My concern is ... when hes sleeping though the night is it going to be struggle to get him to sleep in the crib... anyone have experience with this?? I dont want him in my bed forever!

I did the same thing with Julia because I EBF her for 11 months and found it easier to feed her at night in bed with me, well she will be 3 next week and is still in our bed with us--lol I personally wouldn't do it, your baby will never want to get out of your bed and it will be so hard to put him in the crib when the time comes. It was also hard on me to Julia in her own room cause I got so use to her sleeping with me. Todd Jr is now 7 weeks and is still sleeping in his bassinet, pretty soon he will be sleeping in his crib, no more babies in my bed--lol

I did it with both - #1 went into the crib at 4 months no problem and #2 at 6 months (his room wasn't ready until then )

Re: moms who coslept to make bfing easier...
You might have trouble getting him back in his own bed, but you might not. I've seen it go both ways. DS is 19 months and still sleeps with us (although that's our choice). I started putting him to sleep in his crib alone when he was about 7 months old, so he does go down at night on his own, but I bring him into my bed when I go to bed. He sleeps through the night with us -- but he would probably wake-up if I left him in his crib -- I haven't tried leaving him there all night.
If you want him to transition back to his crib I would definately make sure he gets used to sleeping in his crib for at least part of the night.

Re: moms who coslept to make bfing easier...
I did it with all three of my dc's. My oldest until about a year and then we transitioned her to a toddler bed. She would sometimes crawl in with us in the middle of the night, but was fully in her own bed all night long by three. My second dd stayed with us until 2.5 (bf her for 21 months) and sleeps all night long in her twin bed (the best sleeper in fact!). I bf my son until 27 months and we transitioned him right after and he is almost three sleeping in his own bed all night. If it works for you I say do it. For my dh and I it worked out well. Don't worry....they won't be in there forever.

I coslept my dd while bfing then once i was finished bfing i put her in her crib she was btwn 5-6m at the time. She did okay with it. you can start trans. your dc by putting in crib for naps, before officially putting down at night, that may help with the transition.

Re: moms who coslept to make bfing easier...
Up until 3 weeks ago, Sydney was in our bed for the same reason. I thought after 10 months, it was time to make her sleep in her crib. It's worked most nights, but when she wakes up hysterical late in the night or really early in the morning - I tend to bring her back into my bed. Bad habit...but I need sleep too!
Only you know what is best for you & DC. Good luck.

We've been doing it and trying to get Ryan into the crib for the night but it's not going so well. By 4AM I end up bringing him back in so I can get a few hours sleep.

yes i found it difficult but he eventually stayed in the crib. we were just firm about it. not cio, but kinda stood there rubbing his back and letting him sleep on his belly.

Re: moms who coslept to make bfing easier...
I co slept with all 3 and had no issues moving Emma at 2 1/2 to her own bed. Jeremy is in his own bed but comes to snuggle with me in the AM. Lukie is still co sleeping with no plans on moving him out.
Im ok with it since I know he won't be there forever and since we have 3 kids DH and I find other places to have adult time

Re: moms who coslept to make bfing easier...
thank u for all the replies! ive been puttinghim to bed in the crib but then when he wakes around 2:00/ 3:00 i bring him in bed feed and then leave him there. ive been getting more sleep this way (i was so sleep deprived).
i feel like there is such a stigma about having babies/ kids in your bed... glad to here others do it too!

Re: moms who coslept to make bfing easier...
I was totally against it but my sister talked me into it and it was the best thing i ever did, let alone listening to her hehe
Olivia slept her best with me and DH in the beg. I slowly transferred her in the bassinet on and off between 6-7 months and then in the crib she went. I recommend it only bc that was the only way I ever got sleep.
