Moms who feed their LO's organic baby food

Where do you normally buy your organic baby food? Who do you find has the best prices? I've been going to stop n shop...they have the gerber 2 packs for $1.25 which to me doesnt seem bad at all but when you buy a lot at once it adds up. Any suggestions?TIA Chat Icon

I agree with janice.

15 minutes in a steamer will yield you so much more food!!! it's cheaper to make it yourself!

Re: Moms who feed their LO's organic baby food

I second trader joe's frozen food, this is what I have been doing lately. They have good prices! DH also got some frozen organic peaches from whole foods yesterday. We just let them defrost and throw in the blender, then into ice cube trays and viola, they are done. It literally takes me two minutes.

I have to say I am surprised by how easy it has been to make his baby food. I make real oatmeal in a pot w/raisins and cinnamon and then throw it in blender then ice cube trays. Bags of frozen food defrosted throw in blender and done. I do it once a week and have a good variety for the week. I even made barley yesterday and then blended it for him to go with his dinner veggies.

I know I am totally off topic but I just thought if your having trouble finding organic stuff you might want to try making some of it. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Do you freeze it in the ice cube trays?
Or just store it in there?

I freeze it. I might keep a couple of containers in the fridge for the next couple of days but mostly freeze the cubes. I then pop them out and keep them in a tupperware container in freezer. I now have a "breakfast" container w/oatmeal and fruit and a "dinner" one with barley and veggie. Sometimes I put little baggies with labels in the containers if I have a variety.

Re: Moms who feed their LO's organic baby food

it is so cheap to make. walmart is very cheap for it, but try to work the sales with the coupons. some of the brands have coupons on the site you can print, like earth's best.

I usually stock up on the organic foods at BRU when there is a sale - sometimes they have EB for $0.50 a jar, and the Gerber ones for $1.00 a 2-pack.

I find they have a good variety.
