did you have to pay for the ticket for a child? we are going to Russia in September and when I was told that the baby is going to be around $300 even though she is not going to have her own seat.

If your child is under 2 you only pay a fraction of the ticket (for instance for BA you pay 10% of a full ticket with taxes) and you don't get a seat for the kid.) Once your child turns 2....dum dum dum...you have to pay for a seat!!!

Re: moms who flew to europe with a child under 2 did you...

The last time I flew home to NY my son was only about 19 months old, and all he wanted was HIS OWN SEAT so I stood up for 4 hours of the 7 hour flight....he kid wanted his own seat. And the air steward put tape over the call button as my son kept pressing the call button!

I can't wait until I fly home with him next time, he will have his own seat and his own DVD player with his favorite movies. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Re: moms who flew to europe with a child under 2 did you...

I am going to Italy in June and i called Delta and I am going to get my ds (who will be 23 months when we fly) his own seat. They quoted me for $1200.00 for my tickat and his ticket will be $300.00 and that is for the seat. If I want him on my lap it would cost me $75.00. HTH

did you have to pay for the ticket for a child? we are going to Russia in September and when I was told that the baby is going to be around $300 even though she is not going to have her own seat.

$300 is a lot considering your DC will not have a seat.. how much for a regular ticket?? The cost of child fare is a fraction of that.

I have always purchased my son a seat ( he is almost 11 now) and plan on buying my DD a seat this June, she will be 18 months old.
On the way to Russia you will most likely travel late evening so DC will probably just snooze away the 11 hours going..but coming home Chat Icon GOOD LUCK! Time change, traveling in all daylight ( against the rotation so all sun) holding them on your lap for 11+ hours, etc.
I'm dreading the traveling for both you and me.

haha , yup it's going to be fun, fun ,fun, well we are going to Georgia(used to be part of Russia) and the tickets are very expensive almost 1500 roundtrip for each person , they told me the baby is going to be around $200 -$300 depending on the company, not sure if tax is included(I think it is)Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

for children under the age of two, you're just paying the tax.
