Moms who give their DC Prevacid - how do you dissolve it?
I'm using the 15mg solutabs for DS and I cant seem to get it to dissolve correctly. It needs to be dissolved in 4ml of water, but everytime I do it, it still stays grainy. I spoke to the pharmacist and they told me to break it up and dissolve in warm water -- i did this but its still not fully dissolved. Is it supposed to be like this?
He gets the prevacid twice a day, so when I'm dissolving it, if its not fully dissolved, he's getting mostly water the first time and then mostly medicine the second time. I'm worried this is causing a problem.

Umm it was my understanding that for babies they should be given it as a suspension liquid (the pharm mixes it for you). That is what they did for my DD (although she couldn't tolerate it) - I had to go to a special pharmacy b.c the large ones don't know how or are too busy to do the suspension meds.

Re: Moms who give their DC Prevacid - how do you dissolve it?
I used the solutabs for my newborn and was told there was no liquid suspension available because it diminishes the effects. I was also told that you should NOT crush it because again it diminishes the effectiveness.
I was given a syringe I would drop the tablet in and pull up water to the 2nd line, put my finger over the hole and shake it back and forth. It will NOT dissolve completely. If there is some left after you administer it, pull in a little more water, shake and give her the rest.
It's a PITA but it worked for us!! FM me with any questions!!

Yes, this is how I got it. The pharm needs to mix it. I go to a small family own pharmacy.

Thank you! I ended up calling around to 4 different pharmacies and FINALLY found one who would compound it for me. Hopefully this will work out better because dissolving it in the syringe was just becoming a problem and he wasnt getting the right dosage each time.
