Moms who have recently started solids

how much is your baby eating?
I have started feeding DS solids 3x a day
he gets about
2 tablespoons cereal with a cube of fruit (about 1/3 of a jar) for breakfast
1 tablespoon cereal with 1/3 jar veggies and 1/3 fruit for lunch
1/3 jar veggies and 1/3 fruit for dinner

he is also taking 4 6 1/2 oz. bottles a day

I feel like this is too much solid food...what do you think?

Re: Moms who have recently started solids

We started about three weeks ago. We only feed her solids once a day so far. She eats around 5:30 pm. We are giving her 3 tablespoons of cereal (oatmeal) and one jar of a fruit or veggie. Once I am off from work for the summer I will probably start feeding her solids 2x a day.

ETA: she takes 5 6oz bottles a day.

It seems like a lot to start, but if DC is taking it, it's not a problem. I wouldn't try to MAKE him eat that much right now!

DS is just shy of 5mths now, and his feeding schedule is this:

1/2 jar fruit in the morning (8-9am)
1/2-full jar veggies in the evening (5pm)

He usually takes about 4-5, 5-6oz, bottles a day. He sleeps 9-10hrs straight thru the night.

Re: Moms who have recently started solids

We started 2 months ago.
We started with 2-3 tbsp of cereal in the AM and with his bedtime bottle
Once we added fruit it was 3tbsp of cereal in the AM, 1/2 jar of fruit/veggie with lunch, and then 3tbsp of cereal 1/2 jar of fruit with bedtime.

Now at 6 months here is our schedule (times may vary)
8am - 6oz bottle
11am - 3-4 tbsp of cereal + 6oz bottle
2 pm - 1/2 jar of veggies OR 1 full jar of fruit + 6 oz bottle
5 pm - 6 oz bottle
8pm - 4 tbsp of cereal, 1/2 jar of fruit or veggie + 6 oz bottle

My DS took to eating right away so he has been a big eater from day 1.
