Moms who read/used Healthy Sleep Habits with older babies...

DD has a pretty good nap schedule (2 naps a day, morning and early afternoon). Her normal bedtime is a usually 7:30-8pm. She didn't take an afternoon nap today, so we put her down earlyy (6:50). She fussed for about a half hour, but is sleeping now.

Here is my question- according to the book, if she cries tonight (HA!- if), I should NOT go in. Not even to soothe? Just let her cry. Is that right?

Did this work for you ladies?

If it was me...it would depend on the cry. I can differentiate between her cries now, so if I KNOW something's bothering her or she got spooked it's a pretty rough cry...I'll go in. But if it's her babbling, whiny cry...I'm staying in bed Chat Icon

Yes, I do this too.

I found if I go in to DD it can make it worse and then she's awake.

It usually only lasts a minute or two with DD and she goes back.

Now, DS has only woken 2x in almost a year, both times I went in because he is a champion sleeper. Both times he was congested from a cold.

In the early days I used to joke with DH that we should ship DS to the doctor that wrote the book. His nap schedule was 100% to the book. He just stuck his thumb in his mouth and wentChat Icon
