Moms who read & used Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child--help, I'm confused!
Some background first: DS is 8 weeks old, will go right back to sleep at night after a bottle, but may wake up after 2, 3 or 4 hours of sleep.
I got this book to help try and get him to start sleeping longer stretches at night since I have to go back to work in 2 weeks. But I'm confused. It says that for 6-8 weeks, soothe the baby as much as necessary and do not let him cry. But it looks like it also says you can use the cry it out method for babies 6-8 weeks. So should I try CIO or not for this age? Also, should I try it at his 10-11ish feeding, or do it from the earlier feeding 7-8ish (cause it says babies want to go to sleep earlier, but I think he might fall asleep easier after the later feeding)? Any insight into how you followed the book and by the age of your child would be appreciated. TIA!

Read it, but the book that really helped was No-Cry Sleep Solution......You can do what you want in terms of CIO, but it didnt work for Matthew. I do let him cry a little for naps. It has to be with what "you" are comfortable doing as well.

Re: Moms who read & used Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child--help, I'm confused!
the book advocates 3 methods....
full out crying it out modified Crying it out (where you go in to soothe at timed intervals that get longer IE: 5 min, then 10 min, then 15 min) OR the no crying which would be the soothing without crying
we used modified CIO.....we'd let her cry for a few minutes, go in hold her, rock her, put the binky back in (which is usually WHY she woke up--but it was more like crying IN her sleep than a full awake).
it's your choice and what you are comfy with. We'd go in after 3 minutes and it never lasted more than 8-10 at the extreme most! I do NOT like hearing her cry, but I feel it is necessary. We were at a point where I was going in (PG belyl and all) 5 times a night to rock her because she needed that reassurance that we were around (blasted seperation anxiety).
I'm here if you need anymore advice....it takes a few days to create a habit/break a habit, so hang in there
