Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
This might be a 'dumb' question bc I'm a FTM but those who work full-time and have their infants in day care... when they grow a little older, like pre-school age, what will you do? Or moms with kids already in the pre-school age...
Meaning, I drop Julian off at like 8:30am and DH picks him up about 4pm daily after work. Most pre-schools I'm looking at online offer either morning or afternoon programs for like 2-3 hours each. But none of them offer a full day or their idea of a "full day" is like 10am-2:30pm rather than 9:30am-12:45pm OR 1-3pm. I truly need a place that jives with the fact that we work full-time.
So, for those of you with kids 18 months, 24 months, and up... up until right before Kindergarten who work full-time, what do you do for them, care wise?
I would like him to be cared for in a SCHOLASTIC setting and I'm seeing as though the "best of both worlds" doesn't appear to be easy to find! Like a part day care that really focuses on learning.

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
I send my son to the pre-k program where he also attended daycare. We need full time so this works for us!!
**Edited to include that he has learned so much here. He is reading, writing, solving math problems etc. The teachers are great and I feel like he is fully prepared for Kindergarten in September!!

My daycare is also certified Pre-K so I will not have to send DD to a different place.

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
She's goes to a preschool program in our daycare. They do their thing for a few hours or whatever a day and the rest is daycare. All I know is my daycare is from 6 weeks old up until kindergarten and the drop off is anytime from 6:30 am on and the pickup until 630 pm. What they do in between is fine, but I use it as a full time daycare. I had no idea that daycares DIDN'T offer preschool. That would be a huge deal breaker for me

Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
DS is in the preschool program at daycare as well. We are in a center but, even the in-home programs I looked at offered some sort of preschool curriculum.
DS may go to UPK elsewhere next year (if we win the lottery) but, daycare will provide transportation to/from the UPK site.

My daycare has a preschool like setting. Reading, writing, etc. Even at 1 year they are already working on colors, number and the alphabet. Its a structured environment and it works with my hours so I'm not changing it.

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
We found a pre-k that is from 12:30-3:00. I will be taking my lunch break at 12ish to pick him up from daycare and drop him off at pre-k and my mom will pick him up at 3:00 and bring him back to daycare.
It's what we have to do unfortunately.

Alot of nursery and prek programs offer full days. a full day would be considered anywhere from like 830-3ish but then offer before and after care.
Where are you located?I have a great school that starts at 2 yr old.

That.
At 2yrs of age it was guided daycare they called it. Whatever. It was 7am to 6:30pm.
at 3 it was prek3 and at 4 it was plain prek. both really lasted until about 2 then it was just play time (or aftercare) until 6:30.
Even now in Kindergarten she is in aftercare until we get to her which is around 6pm. We drop her off at 7am.
We work. We are not unique because so do hundreds of thousands of others. There are options out there. Just have to find what you like, and what you are willing to pay. LOL

We have the same issue, but we found Kindercare and they offer half-day and full-time preschool programs plus before and after school care if needed.

My mom watches DS so he goes to morning preschool but all of the pre schools we have looked at offer a full day option (9-4) and before and aftercare (starting as early as 7 and going as late as 6).

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
We go to an in home daycare that offers pre school. My son is 3 and for sept ( he will be 4) sending him to a pre-k program at a regular school and daycare will transport him. It is hard! I chose this pre-k solely because the daycare will go there. Gotta do what works!

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
My son has been in an "academic type" daycare center since 5 months old. When he turned 3 he moved into the preschool room, he just turned 4 and will move into the Pre-K room in Sept where he will stay until kindergarten. He is there from 8am-5:30pm and I feel he will be more then ready for kindergarten.

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
8:30 to 4:00 is within extended day programs of most preschools around us (including ours).
Our drop off time would be much earlier (6am), so we have a babysitter. Also works out since we have another child.

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
My son started school at almost 2.5 I drop him and 7:30 and pick him up 3:15. It is a Montessori style. From 8:45-2:45 he is in his class before and after he is in another class with the other children there for extended day. I think a lot of pre school places have this setup.

My DS is in the 1st grade, but this is what I did:
3-5: preschool. Full day 9-3. Exdh dropped off, sitter picked up
K: full day k + after school program. Exdh did drop off, I did pick up at 6.
1st grade: exdh moved away. I do drop off at 8:15. Ds goes to after school till 6, sitter gets him til I get home at 7-7:30

Re: Mom's who work FT and Day Care/Pre-School Set Up:
I have been having a difficult time with this as well. My problem is finding a place that offers preK for my 4 year old and a program for my 2 year old without paying an arm and a leg every month. I really want them in the same place to make it easy.
I'm located in North Massapequa if anyone has any suggestions or recommendations.
They are on waiting lists at St Luke's and Wind n Willow for September.

Most Tutor Times would have what you are speaking of. They are a bit pricey though I guess...but not having to worry about stuff like this makes it well worth it IMO

They do pre-school in our daycare. But this Sept DD1 will be going to UPK and daycare will be her transportation to and from UPK.

My kids went to a chain center, once they are preschool aged, the curriculum follows NYS guidelines/curriculum and they move to a pre-K setting rather than the daycare room.
