Moms who Work in NYC and use Daycare... question

Sorry to barge in on your board but I have a quick question for moms who work in manhattan and use daycare...

Did you ever consider using, or do you currently use, a daycare in the City rather than by home? I'm thinking about this now and am thinking it could be a pretty great option but I was wondering if I'm missing some glaring negative.

Any info?

No. The reason I use a daycare close to home is because there are days when your home from work, and still need to use daycare - like if your sick.
IMO - the closer to home, the better.

ETA: I also couldn't imagine commuting with a baby during rush hour.

I agree. At one point, DH was working nights. He would bring our 3 & 5 year old on the train into the city. I would bring them home with me during rush hour. Those experiences were enough to persuade anyone not to opt for a daycare in the city.

Chat Icon You can tell how green I am. All I'm thinking about is a baby; not even thinking of a 3-5 year old who no, i definitely would not want to take on a train. But I work in Penn Station and am on a very quiet line so that part wouldn't really phase me (while they're infants, that is Chat Icon )

The $$ thing definitely would though. I guess we'll do comparison shopping when the time comes.

I really appreciate all of your responses!!!! Chat Icon
