Re: moms whose baby was breech or transverse at 34 weeks....help!
Well, I know that the baby can still flip....
My BFF's first DS was breech until 36 weeks and then he flipped, or so they thought, it turned out that he was still a little to the side, so when she pushed, she was pushing him into the side of her pelvis and not out. She ended up with an emergency c-section
ETA-I didn't have a c-section, but I've heard that a scheduled c-section can be ok b/c you don't labor and then end up with a section, you know?

i know...and i am being a baby probably but i was so lucky the first time and so at peace with doing it again....i really would rather try and do it on lmy own but with a transverse baby there is now hope (baby is sideways and will never come out......)

There's still hope of a flip and there are some things you can try to help that. Check out this article.

My sisters baby didnt flip till 38 weeks ( which is rare, but possible) and they were prepared at 38 weeks to assist and try to get the baby to turn as well. I would think that would be a better option then rushing for a c/s....But maybe the Dr. has another reason?

Re: moms whose baby was breech or transverse at 34 weeks....help!
nope...everythign else is fine, or so I think ...no extreme wieght gain, high bp, other factors....dr said he does not do the aversion b/c of risks of spinal defects and injuries....c/s is sched for 39 weeks, so there is still time (sorry if i led everyone to think it was sooner!)....he just sched it to ensure he could get a spot and not have to scramble since he is a single doctor practice......

Well, I think it was a little early for them to say you'll need a c-section, personally. but if he did it to ensure a spot incase you need it, I think that makes sense. Ava flipped breech at 37 weeks, she was head down the whole time before there, so it goes both ways. I'd look up online some positions you can get yourself into so that the baby will hopefully turn and not worry too much. The c section isn't terrible, though

Re: moms whose baby was breech or transverse at 34 weeks....help!
I had a scheduled c-section with my first because she was breech and opted for a second section. I was thrilled to go for a second! and my second was a hundred times better & easier than my first. Recovery was just a few days with my second. No big deal! You'll be great! The pain is manageable, just take your medication.
ETA: in fact, I'd advise AGAINST an external manual version- it was far more painful than my c-section and unsuccessful for me.

Re: moms whose baby was breech or transverse at 34 weeks....help!
I had a similiar situation and the dr. told me to look online for "ways to turn the baby" which is what I did. I uploaded some classical music to my ipod and put headphones around my belly. I played the music loud enough for DS to hear and he instantly starting kicking. I played the music for about an hour before I went to bed. He moved around A LOT that night. I went for my dr. appointment a few days later an DS had flipped all on his own!!!! I asked the dr. if the music did the trick and he said he can't confirm but it may have done it! Give it a shot!
Also, I have a question. Have the considered scheduling to manually flip the baby. My dr. said they would try this before a Csection. Basically they bring you into the hospital, lube up your belly, and a dr and some nurses try to manually flip the baby by pushing on your belly. There is a medical term for it that slips my mind at the moment. As about that as well.

The baby can definitely flip. I was breech until 35 weeks and Abby turned. I had a c-section anyway, but my point is, that they can still turn.
It may not be a bad thing that you have it scheduled. If the baby turns, the date can be cancelled. I will also say that a planned c-section is better than an emergent one which is what I ended up with.

Hey Deirdre!
Can't believe #2 is almost here already!
Anyway, Ryan wasn't breech or transverse but I did have a c-section. I didn't find it to be that bad- don't worry. Feel free to FM if you have any questions!
Hope you're feeling well!!

Re: moms whose baby was breech or transverse at 34 weeks....help!
My baby was breech and two/three weeks before my due date he went into the correct position ~ the week before my due date ds flipped back into a breech position. So there is a possibility that your baby can flip to the correct position. (my baby had less room to move because I have a heart shaped utearus and he stilled turned twice) C-section is not that bad actually I had a good experience...Here are some huggies for you

The baby still has time to flip. With my DD my dr's office was going to do an aversion, which BTW i heard is very painful and doesn't always work, to try and turn her. But she turned on her own the day before at 38 weeks. But that was 8 years ago and i think very few dr's office's recommend this proceudre anymore because it is not always successful.

DS was breech until the end. I did try the version which was WAY MORE painful than the C section. I never had to go through labor so I have nothing to compare that to, but C section was not bad at all. I was pretty much back to normal in one week. Also, I was told that 90% of breech babies turn themselves into position, so there really is still time.

my dd was transverse until 37 weeks, she was small (about 5 lbs at that time) so she was able to make it around on her own.. you still have time, i would try the music, and maybe fall asleep upside down jk, just trying to make you smile

Re: moms whose baby was breech or transverse at 34 weeks....help!
DD was breach from 34 wks on....she never moved, so I had a c-section. Honestly, it was not that bad at all. The first few days are rough, but you are in the hospital, so it's not so bad. You are going to need help when you get home, but you are so in "mommy mode" that youjust deal with the pain. But the end of the first week I was feeling so much better and by the end of wk 2 I was feeling 100% better than the week before and by wk 3 I couldn't even tell that I had surgery.
And of course, there is still a chance that in the next 6 wks your baby will flip!!! Keep your fingers crossed!

Re: moms whose baby was breech or transverse at 34 weeks....help!
i was 36 wks preg and my baby was still breech. I was seeing a midwife who referred me to a doctor where he manually turned the baby around. it's called an external version. you have to go to the hospital and they hook you up to a sono and monitor to make sure that the baby is never in any distress.. he successfully turned the baby.
if you ahve any questions, feel free to fm me.. i was set on have a vaginal birth and i am so happy to have had this opportunity presented to me... def look into it.. good luck!!

Here are some .
As for a possible c-section . . . I had preeclampsia. At my 39 week check-up my OB told me to go home and put my feet up and report to the hospital in the morning b/c he was going to perform a C-sec.
I spent the entire night before delivery anxiety ridden and upset and crying to the point of near hysteria. All for naught. The c-section was textbook, the recovery was so easy compared to what my mind had envisioned, and I went home on a vaginal delivery schedule.
Try not to stress - and remember - there is still time for the baby to turn and for you to get your wish to deliver vaginally.

Can you talk to your doctor? My son was still breech at the same time and he turned prior to giving birth. Maybe if the baby doesn't turn by week 38/39, then go with the C-section.

Good luck. I was so upset when I learned that DS was breech at 30 weeks. I held out as long as I could for the C-section. DS had other plans and broke my water 2 1/2 weeks early.
