Mom's with 2 or more School Aged Kids

Do yours fight?

Robbie and Noah seem to not be able to get along AT ALL lately. They fight about the silliest stuff. And everything is a competition. Am I the only one dealing with these kinds of shenanigans? How should I nip this?

All mine do is argue....

We told them to go to bed last night an hour early b/c we couldnt take it any more...

The only time they truly get along is when they work together to try and con me into something that they both want....

Our answer to ending the constant fighting is to give the one her own room. They share a room and it only adds to it. Aside from that...I havent a clue as to what to do.

They either love each other passionately and can't stand to be apart or brawl like the UFC.Chat Icon

It's definitely normal and the phase will wane and wax!

So true!

My oldest DS (16) and DD (14) do finally get along now, most of the time. But, when they do fight, they can be absolutely cruel to each other.

They both still fight with DS (11).

Mine do, but then 2 minutes later they are all over each other hugging and being best friends. This weekend there was more whining and arguing then usual, and we were losing our minds.

Well I'm glad it's not just my kids!Chat Icon

It's just escalating recently. Part of it is that they are just such different types of people. Noah is artsy and emotional - Robbie is clinical and analytical. Robbie corrects Noah CONSTANTLY - which causes a complete MELTDOWN with No. And then Noah gets really annoying - he knows the right buttons to push - to make Robbie lose his ever lovin' mind.

Plus - it's 100% competition all day long. Who drew a carrot better, who got up first, who sets the table better, who buckled their seatbelt fastest. RIDICULOUS.

I tried separating them - but then they annoy ME individually because they want to play with each other.

I think I'm going to try ramping up the praise when they get along well. We comment on it now - but it doesn't seem to help - maybe we need to make a bigger deal over it!

constantly and i hate it. i have 3 DC. 12,9 and 5. The middle one DS- antagonizes and picks fights with his older brother and younger sister. 99 % of the time it is his fault or caused by him. I don't even know what to do with him anymore... i hope they get along when they get older Chat Icon
