Moms with 2 or more...Did your 2nd recieve attention like the 1st from..
Family & Friends? Did you find that family/friends care less/pay less attention to your second born and on?
My 1st was the first grandchild on both sides, 2nd baby to born in my immediate/extended family. I had tons of people here all the time (a two hour trip from LI for both our families), people were constantly calling, sending things.
My 2nd Very few visitors, no one calls, no one has come to my home to see her yet besides our immediate families, no one sends things like they did with Gianna.
FOr me, i am head over heels in love with Amelia, but it just seems like the rest of our family/friends are like ya whatever they just had a baby 14 months before this one.
Am I wrong to feel hurt & left out here?
I AM IN NO WAY looking for gifts, but I have uncles/aunts/cousins/friends who haven't even seen my niece who's going to be 3 months old the end of the month and my daughter who's 6 weeks old.

My first was a boy and my second was a girl. As the second child, she did receive a lot of attention in the family (still does!) bc she was the first girl in a very very long time (20 years older-all boys in between) But she definitely didn't generate the same excitement in general. God, my hospital room was filled with people when I had my son. With my DD, not so much. With my 3rd, also a boy, forget it. Hardly anyone. I guess it's human nature to be super excited over a first born but I always make a fuss over any baby. Esp. but not only because I do think it's common for #2, #3, etc. to not get the same outside attention.
What can you do...

For me it's hard to say, Jayden was in the NICU for the first 2 weeks of his life so family called all the time to see how were doing. We received more things for Nate only bc we had a baby shower in NY when I was pg, my MIL threw welcome home get together for Chicago friends/family and a baptism party. People still sent gifts even though I didn't do any of that formal stuff with Jayden.

I have to say, there was just as much excitement with my 2nd as there was with my first. Mainly because when I was pregnant with my second, the families went through a LOT of sadness. My MIL passed away when I was 5 weeks pregnant. My grandfather passed away when I was 6 months pregnant. Having the baby brought a lot of light and joy to our families.

I haven't had the second one but I hope that baby gets more attention. I sat there for three months and no one came.

My 1st two children all my family and friends came to see when first born (there was a big gap between them) however my poor Gavin was only 22mos apart from his brother. So only a few visitors. However I know my family loves him the same

Yes and no.... My friends and family were all just as excited when Ellie was born, as they were with Emma. But I find that my friends ask before coming over or inviting me over... kind of like they think I have my hands full and don't want to intrude, or think that I'm too busy...

Re: Moms with 2 or more...Did your 2nd recieve attention like the 1st from..
YES...my daughter (2nd child) definitely got less attention paid to her birth, and her life in general.
It's horrible, actually. I was just venting last weekend about the fact that my parents have never asked to take her home w/them for the weekend, and when my son was her age, they would take him at least once a month.
I have one aunt who still has never seen my daughter in person - and she's TWO YEARS OLD now.
And my other aunt - well, she actually made it a point to tell me that my son will always have a special place in her heart, but not my daughter. Can you friggin IMAGINE?
It totally sucks how people behave differently for your second child. It is beyond hurtful, b/c each new person deserves to be CELEBRATED!!!!

I have to say that I am a second child and never felt less important than my brother. Maybe because there is a five year age difference between us and when I came it had been a while since there had been a baby born. Maybe if babies are born close together people don't fuss as much.

I took the OP as meaning in relation to the child as a baby, not at an older age, where you might remember or feel like you are treated differently, KWIM?
