Moms with DC's of the same sex, do you dress your kids alike?
My family is big into this...dressing their 2 boys in the same outfit or girls in the same dresses. I am not sure how I feel about it. I actually have alot of twins in my family and when I buy clothes, although I may buy the same outfit or similar outfit, I always pick out two different colors. I feel like they need their own identity at some point...or is that stupid?

I do dress the girls alike sometimes. Not very often. I never buy the same outfit for both of them but the family does.

I did but in the future (fall and winter) I won't be b/c I eel like I am wasting money.
In the past I would buy 2 shirts same color, now I will buy 2 shirts in different colors. I feel like I'm getting more out of my money.

I feel very strongly about this so people please dont get offended. I know someone that does this like there boys are twins. And they are not. They are 3 years apart. Its ridiculous. each child should have their own identitiy. ANd its cute maybe when they are babies but not when they get bigger.
I have 2 boys and yes sometimes i coordinate their colors for a holiday or pictures. I guess to each their own.

I do it for holidays... sorta. I LOOOVE it. Look in my album and you will see them dressed alike or similarly in a lot of pics.
I used to do it a lot more but now they want no part of it and I have to nearly BEG them to dress similarly!
Robbie's more.. preppy? And Noah.. I don't know what he is... a slob I guess!

I agree. My girls are 10 months apart. At 27 months and 17 months I've stopped but will be coordinating (not matching) often.

Re: Moms with DC's of the same sex, do you dress your kids alike?
My DDs are 3 and almost 2. They are 18 months apart. I used to dress them alike occasionally, but they now fight over clothes and flip out if they aren't wearing the same as the other one, so they most often are dressed alike. I would prefer to dress them in similar outfits with different colors or completely different stuff, but since they fight (like literally ripping clothes off of each other), we have just been buying 2 of everything.

I only have 1 DD but thought Id chime in...
I think its cute to do it IF the DC are close in age (its silly hrn they are like 3 or 4 yrs apart in age IMO) however, its once in awhile - for a party, a holiday etc..not an every day thing.

I am more into coordinating. as they have gotten older they fight over clothes and since they are two different sizes it has become easier to buy the same shirt in 2 sizes then 2 colors in 2 sizes.
I think dressing kids identical at any age all the time is strange.

My MIL noticed last fall that i was coordinating them (htey the would both be in pink and brown or polka dots etc) it wasnt intentional but i guess i was guilty of doing it!

I have a few outfits that are the same for my boys. I think it is cute when every once in a while they dress the same. For holiday pictures, I coordinate their outfits rather than have them wear the same thing.

I just dress my boys alike on holidays. I'll probably stop at some point soon, since DS1 is six and might not be too thrilled with it too much longer.

I try not to put the exact outfit on them, I usually coordinate their outfits though. So if I pick out jeans/polo for Nate, Jay will also get jeans/polo just different color.

For the holidays - similar outfits are fine. We have gotten gifts - onesies mostly that have the same "message" on them. It's cute, but I agree on they should have their own identity despite being 14 months apart. One day they may fight over clothes, then I may find myself getting them the same stuff. Some items that were handed down to us for #2 coincidentally are the same things in smaller size that DD#1 has in her closet.

I bought a couple of coordinating/matching outfits for my 2 girls for the fall. Even though they are 3 years apart sometimes I think it is cute. I wouldn't do it every day though.

After years of trying to have a second baby, I took my, probably, one and only opportunity to match my girls last x-mas. I am a cornball, but I know this will not be kosher with Jordan again
ETA: They are 7 years and 3 months apart
