Moms with DD that have unruly hair....

how should I get it cut? should I just trim her bangs and let the rest grow out more?

And how on earth can I make it look neater in the AM. When we wash it, her beautiful ringlets are so obvious when the hair is wet and before she goes to bed....

then in the AM it's nothing but a rats nest.. the curls are gone.

I know just what you mean about the ringlets in the evening and rats nest in the morning!! Chat Icon

I haven't cut Katherine's hair yet, but have been thinking about it. If and when I do, I think I will trim everything a bit. As far as making her hair presentable, it's always in a ponytail and hairclips--luckily, she hasn't had a problem wearing things in her hair since about 18 months.

my dd has curly hair too. I use a little leave-in conditioner and run it through her hair. it brings the ringlets back. I don't intend on cutting her hair though.

I use a blowdryer. I'm not kidding you...it works wonders and her hair dries in like 30 seconds.

I blowdry DD's hair if I give her a bath at night, well even during the day. DH on the other hand does not and her hair looks totally different.
I personally would let her bangs grow out, IMO it gives you more options but that is probably just my taste.

My DD has bangs and I just trim the rest to shape it. She has mostly straight/slightly wavy hair but right near her ears gets curly. The rule of thumb for kids hair is that longer=weight=control. My DD's hair is much more manageable when the spots that get unruly are longer.

Re: Moms with DD that have unruly hair....

DD just had bangs cut at 18 mths...I really wanted to let it grow out one length but she refuses to leave any type of hair clip or rubberband in her hair and the hair was just constantly in her eyes/face. She looks so much neater with some bangs. I just had the hairdresser cut very thin ones so if I decide to grow them out, there isnt much of it to grow....
