Moms with newborns-how often....
How many hours does your DC go between feedings? Also are they BF or Formula fed?

Re: Moms with newborns-how often....
exclusively breastfed, she was like clockwork most days, 3 hours from the start of one feeding to the start of the next (and she nurses for like 40 minutes each time). She's pretty regular at this, even in the beginning, but she had her busier days too!

Re: Moms with newborns-how often....
She was exclusively breastfed and was going between 4-4.5 hours but wasn't gaining enough weight so my pediatrician made me stat waking her every 3 hours to feed.

EBF...he only ate for 5-10 minutes at a time, so my boob was out almost every hour.

EBF. Feeding every 2 hours. He would not take the breasts more than 15 minutes top without falling asleep.

Re: Moms with newborns-how often....
Alex is 7 weeks. Daytime is 3 hours between feedings pretty much from the start. Night - sometimes the three hour routine but we are starting to stretch the first bottle - anywhere from 4-6 hours. He is FF.

Re: Moms with newborns-how often....
For about the first 3-4 weeks, DD ate every 2 hours. She then stretched it out to 3 hours for a couple of weeks, and now (at 2 1/2 months) she's pretty regular at every 4 hours. She is EBF and usually eats for 30-50 minutes.
ETA: At night, she goes anywhere between 6-8 hours.

Re: Moms with newborns-how often....
Caden eats about every 4 hours. Sometimes longer sometimes less. Usually depends on how much he had to eat at the last feeding. He is 3+ weeks and eating 5-6 ounces per feeding. He weighed a little under 8 lbs at birth and is now well over 9 lbs. He was 3 weeks early.
My Twins were 5 weeks early and each weighed about 5 lbs at birth. They basically ate every 2-3 hours at this age and ate about 3 ounces. They couldnt make it for very long, at this age, without feeding.
I remember asking the pediatrician about this when they were newborns b/c it was such a difference from my older daughter...who was simular in size to Caden...he said with babies their size and age of maturity have a lot to do with their ability to stay asleep and while we might only look at the weight difference as small..when you only weigh such a little amount a few ounces make a tremendous difference.

Re: Moms with newborns-how often....
usually every 2-2.5 hours during the day, he is fed breastmilk (4oz)... he goes to bed around 9pm right now and sleeps until 4-5am, eats goes back to sleep for another 3 hours... but during the days as I said he eats every 2 hours unless he has a nice long nap which isnt that often
