Moms with Planned C-section......
For medical reasons we are having a planned C-section. Is there anyone else who is having this as well? If so how many weeks before your due date are you scheduled to deliver?

i'm sorry to sound ignorant but why would anyone need to plan a c-section? how do they know in advance? i thought it was just if the labor wasn't working out...

Re: Moms with Planned C-section......
If you already had a C section you can opt to have another like me. Some people also have medical conditions where they cant do a natural delivery such as prior abdominal surgery etc.
P>S what you are talking about is an emergency C-section.

There are a TON of reasons why a c-section would be planned. I know that this is a possibility with me due to a vaginal polyp that coupld possibly block the birth canal.
Planned c-sections get a bad rap because of people like Britney Spears who want to do them b/c they think they are easier.
Other reasons could be placenta previa and some cervical issues.

Agreed. Celebs are giving it a bad rap.

Re: Moms with Planned C-section......
Jeremy was a planned C-section. He was due on the 15th and I had him on the 14th. I wanted him to cook as long as possible before I forced him out of the womb. This baby is due on the 10th but sticking with tradition I am going in next Friday (the 9th)
My reason for a C isnt convenience it is because of the risk of uterun rupture and/or need for a C after labor anyway (did that once already) outweighted the idea of a VBAC

If I get pregnant, I will need a planned C-section, and I have never been pregnant before. I have had a myomectomy (fibroid surgery). This is like having a prior C-section, but the way it was explained to me, a VBAC (vaginal birth) is not even an option as it may be for some who have had prior C-sections. This is because of the location of my prior incision and the extent of my surgery. If the incision could have been made to a different part of my uterus, or if the surgery were less extensive, it would be a different story. I already have 2 doctors opinions on my situation (surgeon and current OB/GYN).
Sorry, I do not know anything yet about how my Dr. schedules C-sections.

Re: Moms with Planned C-section......
I had a planned c/s with my first because up until 37 weeks, he was still breech. So we scheduled it.
My water ended up breaking before the planned date, so I went in and had hte c/s then.
I chose not to have a planned c/s for my second. I was a good candidate for VBAC and I was able to do just that.

Re: Moms with Planned C-section......
I am having a planned c-section due to family medical history on both sides (close family) of cerebral aneurysms. If I do have the weakness in my artery (never been tested), the pushing could make it rupture.
My due date is 4/4 and I am scheduled for 3/30 for my c-section

For medical reasons we are having a planned C-section. Is there anyone else who is having this as well? If so how many weeks before your due date are you scheduled to deliver? Yes. My placenta is covering my cervix. We are trying to make sure that I do not go into labour so at this point we are talking about 1 week ahead of DD. I have to go back for another sono at 28 weeks to see if my placenta is moving, if not then I will get it checked every 2 weeks, then every week after 34 weeks to make sure I am not going into labor. Once I hit 38 weeks I will go everyother day to look for sugns of labour.
Of course this can all change at any of the visits

There are medical conditions that make a vaginal birth risky for both mom & the baby. I have my placenta covering my cervix. since the baby cannot pass through the placenta, and the placenta cannot come out before the baby, we have to have a c-section.
Also there are neurological things as well, like seizuring, that can require the new mom not to push for fear of triggering a seizure. There are some pulmonary & heart conditions as well that will pre-dispose someone to needing a c-section.

Re: Moms with Planned C-section......
I have a planned c-section. My son son was born severely premature and I needed a classical c-section where the cut goes up & down vs. across. Because of that, I can never experience a contraction. I will be heavily monitored towards the end of my pg and if all is well, an amnio will be performed at 36 weeks and delivery at 37

Re: Moms with Planned C-section......
I have a very stupid question - when you girls say that the baby was breach - how do the doctors know this? Is this what they look for when doing internals? I just wasn't sure if they actually give you a sonogram at that time - or if that's what the internals check for.

They can tell by u/s, but also, they are able to tell just by feeling your belly. The baby's head is very hard and round and easy to tell from the rest of the body.
