More homeowners insurance questions????
Sorry for all the questions, but I am trying to get a handle on this stuff -
I just called Met Life and they stated all these crazy requirements for writing a new policy, then they would have to have an onsite inspection which takes from 60-90 days. Is this typical??????????????
Am I better off calling around to the more popular companies, or hiring a broker to get us a policy? Obviously I don't want to get ripped off, but I am so unfamiliar with this stuff and want to be sure I am doing it right.
what have your experiences been?

I would try calling around. Our inspection of our home was done within 24 hours of my call.

Ask Away!!!
I called 2 places only so I had a little bit of an easier time. Neither of them told me anything about an inspection except that if they wrote my policy, someone they contract would come out and take pictures of the outside of the home and inspect the outside of the home.
If a company is giving you the run around or complicating things, my suggestion is to move on. If from the beginning they aren't helping you out, imagine if you unfortunately every have an issue.

I never heard of that before. We have Liberty Mutal. They do give discounts to certain people depending where you work or where you went to college, so it's worth it. I belive I received 10% off of ours because of where we work. GL!

Some carriers might require an inspection before, but most don't.
They will inspect your home after you close and they will make an appointment to do so.
Keep looking around, FM me if you need a broker.

Shop around, let them do an inspection. Then go with the company that gives you the best quote.

Re: More homeowners insurance questions????
Also, make sure you read EVERYTHING on there. Look out for things like, your AOP (All other Perils) deductible and your Wind ded. If there is a % for wind, make sure it is for Named Storms only and all other Wind is subject to the AOP ded (might be $1000, $2500, etc..).
Remember the cheaper the price, is not always the better one. Just ask questions and make sure you understand everything that is covered and not covered.
