mortgage application fee?
Does every bank charge a fee? I went to apply today, and they want $400. Is this normal? Thanks!

i think so. i just called about refinancing and Astoria Federal told me its a $500 fee

My dh is a broker and does not charge ANY fees and he can shop around and get you the best rate out there.

we didn't pay any fee with Wells, but we did in the past with a mortgage broker and it was $350

Yes, TFCU charged us $425. We shopped around with mortgage brokers who did not charge fees, but none could match the rates of the credit unions without having us buy points.

We had to pay an application fee for the refinance - it was $95.
$400 seems like a lot to me. Maybe that includes an appraisal as well? Our appraisal fee was $300.
