my friend in FL has her kids call their grandma MiMi.
My Mom will be Nana and DH's mom will be Grandma, but we're traditional

My daughter calls my mother "Mema". She just kind of started doing it on her own before she could pronounce Grandma & it stuck. DS just started this with my mother as well. She really likes it

Re: mother doesnt want to be called grandma/nana
My cousins used to call my grandmother "meme" (supposed to have accents over the "e"s- pronounced meh-may) which is a shortened version of memere, meaning granny or nana.
Good luck
