Re: Movement and Sound "Angel Care" Monitor
I have it (well mine's a slightly different model but it's the same idea).
isn't due for another 17 days so i can't say how it works but I have heard NOTHING but great things about it.
I live in Ireland and it's the #1 selling monitor here, even over video ones. I know a lot of people who have both the Angelcare and a video monitor, though, so that's a good option too.

we had it for DS as well as the vid monitor, we slept way more peacefully with it and worried a lot less.

My sister has it and swears by it. It was the only way she would sleep.
We tested it (we put a sack of potatoes in the crib, my sister got in the crib and held her breath, etc.) and it truly works.

Im so glad you posted this. DH and I were in BRU and thought about getting it but wanted to research it more.
I have a question though. It says it goes under the mattress. I was wondering how well it works if it goes under the mattress when the mattress is so thick.

Re: Movement and Sound "Angel Care" Monitor
We used just the motion monitor AngelCare. We had a separate sound monitor, but it's the same concept, and the same mechanism.
Most likely, you WILL get false alarms once in a while, but it depends on how sensitive the pad is (it's adjustable), and how much DC moves around. DS moved a lot, so if he moved to the very edge of the mattress, it would go off. DD rarely set off the alarm, since she moved so little. We still preferred having occasional false alarms but knowing that if the alarm wasn't going off, everything was OK. When you're asleep, you can't hear DC stop breathing, so this gave us peace of mind.
The best thing to do is get some plywood to put under the mattress, so the pad is between the plywood and the mattress. That will give you the best results.

I have this too and love it. Mine is an older model (last years) but basically the same. I would be lost without it.
I chose this over the video monitor because I wasn't too concerned about seeing the baby...I was more concerned about making sure the baby was breathing.

A friend of mine told me she got it and the thing would constantly go off- but the baby was fine. They were up all night with this alarm going off so it caused them to get LESS sleep and worry more! I love the idea, but will have to look into it more.

Then it most likely wasn't adjusted properly. Even if you have a DC that moves to the sides all the time, as long as there is wood under the mattress, and the sensitivity is configured properly, you don't get a whole lot of false alarms. Even with DS, who moved out of range a lot, we got a false alarm about once a week, usually less. With DD is maybe 2 times the entire time we used it with her.
