Moving from Exclusively Pumping to Nursing and Pumping at 12 weeks??
It can be done right? I've been EP'ing for 10 weeks and have recently started nursing again very slowly, like 1 or 2 feedings out of 4. The past two days I nursed 3/4 ( I pumped the last feeding) but I feel like he doesn't empty my boobs like the pump does. They felt full all day. I know he is getting enough b/c he is going the 4 hours and is very content when he is done. Will my body adjust to this? Should I pump after he eats or will that just signal my body to produce more milk? Thank you!

I'd probably not want to pump after a nursing session since it'd signal my boobs to make more. I'd think your bod will respond and make less if just nursing.

I would suggest pumping after you BF in the morning and then again at night before you go to bed. Is he STTN now consistently?

Re: Moving from Exclusively Pumping to Nursing and Pumping at 12 weeks??
I just did this!
Yes, I can be done :) Because I was pumping, I was always over producing, but I also wanted a freezer stash for when I went back to work. I now only pump at work and in the am because I'm usually way to full for him to latch, so I pump a little, then nurse. I've been doing it for 3 weeks now, DS is 3 months. I am really happy I did it this way, I had no pain associated with nursing because the pump conditioned my nips, so when he latched it never ended up hurting!
I still after 3 weeks feel full after he eats. Your body will adjust, mine is slowly getting there. I always let him feed on one side, finish on the other and then start with the last breast I ended with previous. He always ends up draining one, and taking a very small amount from the 2nd. I thought because I felt so full after BF that I had to pump out what he didn't drink, but I spoke to a gf of mine who has been bf, and she told me I'd keep producing to much if I did that, so I stopped. Good luck with everything!

Re: Moving from Exclusively Pumping to Nursing and Pumping at 12 weeks??
I switched from pumping exclusively to nursing after six weeks with DS.
I still pumped once before I went to bed around 10:00pm because I was afraid I would get engorged...looking back that was silly- it would have adjusted after a few nights anyway.
I think pumping would just give you an oversupply- if you can stop pumping I would! If he is on your breast all day he is getting what he needs and your body will adjust to what he needs.

Thank you. My husband likes to feed him his last feeding and I feel bad taking that away from him so I think I'll have to pump at that time. You don't think I'll have to?

I stopped pumping before I went to bed this week, but I am so engorged when I wake up and if he doesn't take both sides, I have to pump in the morning before work anyway. When I come home at 4, he takes one side and the other before bed, so the side from 4 is full, but I am trying to see how to go about this to still keep up my supply. Some days he gets 2 five oz bottles when I'm at work, but lately it's only one.
