I like dark brown large pieces. I can't stand the red mulch.
Make sure it's manure free or chocolate free. I know someone who picked up mulch and didn't realize it had manure in it.
Also I have read there is a kind of mulch that smells like chocolate (I think) that is dangerous to animals and pets (if you have any).

Not a fan of the red, it looks unnatural to me. Black is my first choice, then brown.
