Muttontown
Hi Everyone,
After looking exhaustively for a home over the past two years we chose Muttontown. We are coming from Queens and we are so excited to move to our new home. I am more familiar with the south shore and don't know the area well. I would love recommendations from anyone familiar with this area about
Best Delis Best pizza Best Thai restaurant Best Chinese restaurant Best Italian restaurant
Best parks/playgrounds
Best activities for kids in the neighborhood
Any help you guys can give would be awesome. Thanks so much!

Re: Muttontown
You're not far from Not Just Art (Oyster Bay) which is an adorable little place for kids to take art classes. Depending on the age, they also offer Music Together.
I'm not too familiar with Muttontown but I love Oyster Bay and you're right near there. Such a sweet, pretty town to walk around.
There's actually a juice bar/smoothie place in Oyster Bay called Juice Quest on South St (a block down from NJA)
I hope this was helpful since it wasn't for Muttontown specifically but it's like less than 10 mins from there.

Re: Muttontown
You will probably find yourself in Syosset orjericho for all the things you listed. Mutton town is pretty residential. I am nearby in Lattingtown. Good luck!

I prefer Marios for pizza in Oyster Bay and Janis near the Broadway Mall for Chineese and Japanese food. There are actually a lot of good restaurants in Oyster Bay.

I don't know the other supermarkets in the area, but I like the Whole Foods in Jericho. Also someone mentioned Mario's in Oyster Bay- great pizzeria! Also like Wild Honey in Oyster Bay (funny, they have one in Port Washington but the one in Oyster Bay is just better) and Rothmann's steakhouse in East Norwich is really good as well.

Pennycat, thanks so much. We will definitely check Mario's out!. How far is the town of Oyster bay from Muttontown?. We will be a few blocks from the Syosset train station. I guess you could also consider the area North Syosset. Also any body have any recommendations for local piano classes and tennis lessons. Thanks again

Re: Muttontown
On Jericho Turnpike there are a few grocery stores. I prefer Marios in Oyster Bay over the one in Syosset, on Jericho which would be closer for you. Bens is a good deli.On Jericho Tpke. the diner across the street from the grocery store near the best western is also good. Edit, Syosset and Oyster Bay are next door to each other. I would orient yourself by driving around Jericho, Syosset, Woodbury, and Oyster Bay. Also, there is a pool on Jericho Tpke next to the police station/across from Fox Hollow.

This is so helpful. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm going to go out there next weekend and tour the areas you mentioned. We close on the house in early December so we have been really focused on moving out all our stuff from our current home

Just entered the syosset train station to Not Just Art into mapquest and got 13 minutes.
I've traveled from wayyyy further for a smoothie from Juice Quest
Oh and the diner the pp mentioned on Jericho tpke has really good breakfasts. I used to see a doctor near there and went to that diner frequently for breakfast if I had a morning appt. yumm

For tennis, i have heard great things about Sport time in Syosset. If you have children, The Hub has tons of classes. For piano lessons, join Syosset, OB, Locust Valley/Bayville parents Facebook groups. There are people who recommend music teachers, tutors etc etc. Best bagels in my opinion is Bagel Master in Syosset. We love Wild Honey and Autentico in OB. Nekkei for sushi is also good. We go to Southdown for coffee and Super bowls for smoothies/acai bowls. Food shopping, i prefer Fairway in Plainview but go to Stop and Shop in OB for quick stops.
Let me know if you need any other recommendations- we live in the area as well and moved here last summer:
