My 19 month old, I dont want him to feel left out
I know I am giving our DS the best gift ever to have a little brother less than 2 yrs apart from him but I'm starting to worry so much about how it is going to make DS feel. I dont want him to feel left out. I am going to be in the hospital for 4 days and going to miss him like crazy during the csection recovery and all. Then I cant even pick him up for 6 wks. And then a newborn on top of it. I feel so bad for him already. What can i do? He doesnt have any little friends his age but I am starting him again in a Mommy & Me class starting april 14th. I just wish I could predict what this is goin to be like. Anyone else ever go through this?

I don't have experience with it yet, but I definitely worry about the same thing for my DD when she becomes a big sister someday. It's been me and her and I don't want anything to destroy our special bond. I think it's totally normal.
From what I've heard from friends and family, just make sure you carve out special time to spend with DS #1, get him excited about the baby by giving him ways to help out, and get him a special present just for him for when the baby is born and every gift is a newborn size. You will do great!!

it's so normal to feel that way but don't worry too much about it! he is so young that he will NEVER know life without his brother. you really are giving him the best gift in a sibling, trust me! i felt this way for DD last year before DS was born-she never even blinked an eye. she didn't know any different and didn't seem to care. i think that's the beauty in having them close together and so young. i too had a C section and worried about recovery etc. but truthfully, it was much better than i anticipated. i could pick DD up a lot sooner than i thought. i think within the first 2 weeks i did. for hugs and stuff like that i just got on the ground with her. she loves her little brother and they have a great time together! you'll see that the transition won't be half as bad as you anticipate!
