My 3.5 year old constantly wakes up in the middle of the night and I am at my wits end.
The sleep deprivation really is awful. I can't stand it anymore. My 3.5 yr old has NEVER been a good sleeper. But, now, it is just awful. He wakes up usually at least once a night and, yells until I come in his bed. Sometimes it is 2 or more times a night. Every night it is something different. I have tried everything to get him to sleep through the night.
I really think it has b/c a habit now that I created. He wakes up and wants me there b/c he knows that will happen instead of going back to sleep. But, the habit was created out of necessity. My 14 mo olds room is right accross the way. She is an AMAZING sleeper - never really woke up in the middle of the night since 6 wks! But, if she is woken up (by him yelling) she is up for the day. Even if it is 3am. So, I run into his room when he starts yelling for me to keep her asleep.
So what else can I do?? Please advise if you have dealt with this b/c I can't see straight I am so tired and I am ready to lose it.

have you read the "no cry sleep solution" for toddlers?
I think there are some solutions that could work for you.
like, instead of going in and then staying in the room, bring him to another room (lving room/den) to get him back to sleep or get him what he needs and then bring him right back.

He does go back to sleep pretty quickly so that is not the problem. He usually wants something (me, a drink, to pee, to take off his socks etc.) sometimes it is a nightmare. I need to figure out how to get him to stop waking up in the first place or to go back to sleep without calling for anyone or yelling! We both need some uninterrupted sleep!

My DS is 2 and does the same EXACT thing. And I have a 7 month old also who is a great sleeper but I also find myself running to DS #1's room so he doesn't wake his brother up.
If you figure out a solution I'd love to hear it.
DS #1 has slept through the night maybe 5 times in his life.

 Sorry, all I can offer is hugs bc I'm going through it with my almost 4 yr old and 2 1/2 yr old...I'm at my wits end too

I have a 2 1/2 yo that I went throught this with for TWO months, I feel your pain. I read the "no cry sleep solution" for toddlers and it truly helped. It was as simple as turning off her night light after she went to sleep and replacing it with a blue night light. I also got black out shades. This never bothered her before but all of a sudden this did it. Evaluate EVERYTHING in his room and see if you can tweak even little things. Go to the library today and get that book. Hang in there, I know how tough it is. I was at my wits end also.
