My Birth Story
John Francis was born on November 15 by scheduled c-section at Huntington Hospital. He was 10 pounds, 1 ounce, 21 1/2 inches. He's just a wonderful, sweet baby.  
I went to the hospital with my DH and my mom, and was taken to L&D where I got an IV and was hooked up to some monitors. I was having really bad back pain at that point in my pregnancy, and laying in the position that the nurse wanted me in so that the monitor could get a good reading was pretty uncomfortable, so I can only imagine how it must feel to stay still like that if you're in labor! There was one c-section ahead of me, so DH and I just hung out for about two hours and waited. My mom and dad and stepmom were able to come in for brief visits, which was nice.
Eventually DH was asked to change into his gown and mask, etc and I was wheeled off to get the spinal. It wasn't bad at all, the anticipation of it was the worst part. Once that took affect I laid down on the operating table (I should say my legs were moved for me since I had no feeling in them). The sheet was moved over so that I couldn't see anything, and my DH came in the room and sat down next to me and held my hand. We were so excited and nervous and couldn't believe we were about to meet our little guy.
About 10-15 minutes later we heard his awesome loud cries and DH was able to go over to the table and watch the baby get washed up. I still hadn't seen him but I could hear everyone say how big he was and how beautiful and when I heard my husband tell me the same I was just so overcome with joy. It felt like forever before I got to see him, and when I did I just couldn't wait to hold him. That's the only part of the c-section that was su cky, the not being able to hold the baby right away part (my arms were strapped down). But my husband followed him to the nursery while I went to recovery, so I felt better knowing at least one of us could be with him.
About an hour later I got to hold the baby for the first time, but not for long b/c I had a reaction to the anesthesia and was vomiting. Eventually that went away and I held him again and it was pure bliss.
The nurses at HH were so wonderful, I wanted to take them home with me. And the doctors were awesome too. We had a great experience there. Here's a pic of the little guy. Image Attachment(s):

BTW: his weight and length are the exact numbers of my daughter when she was born 23 yrs ago!
