My boss is a piece of work...
My manager loved me until I became pregnant last year- then she treated me completely differently. She does not have kids and is completely career-obsessed.
My raise was half of what my peers received, even though my work performance was great, and I had no attendance issues.
I came back last week after my 16 week maternity leave. She is off today, and just sent an email to our whole department saying everyone could leave early today for the holiday weekend- except ME who must stay until 5:00 to "cover phones". I am not the dept admin (she is one of the ones who gets to leave).

That is totally unfair.....not to mention, what is the point of you getting the phones if no one is there to take care of the problems people are calling about?

Re: My boss is a piece of work...
that is BS! I would ask for reasoning about the raise and about why you had to stay, not the dept admin.

I would confront her also, and about your raise and why you were unable to go home. Unfortunately, I have heard from several women who said their salary increases were not so great after maternity leave. The rationale seems to be that they were out.
I feel for you--my last boss was married to her job also, and while I liked her on a personal level, she was tough to work for.

Re: My boss is a piece of work...
I do need to have a chat with her about the raise. It should not matter about my maternity leave, since the raise is for 2007 and DS was born 1/19/08 ( I worked up until the end). I should get the full year that everyone else received.
