As long as you don't start complaining in a few weeks that you have bills you can't pay, it's all good! Chat Icon It will be a great party and you'll be happy how it turns out.

But the Pizza seems kind $$$$....

Ugh, my mom said to me "you just can't handle simple"Chat Icon

I need 9 pizzas. The Gino's nr there is about $15/pie. I'm guessing I need 15. About 20 kids and 30 adults (between parents, grandparents and my brothers).

Yep, me too. I would duly note a cute cake or cupcakes and be asking where they got it so I could get one too - right Rebecca? Chat Icon Chat Icon

My mom gave me a nice speech about how proud she was that I borrowed her BJs card for the cake - she won't be so impressed if she sees 24 handmade cupcakes Sunday morning Chat Icon

I honestly think that may be too much. I think you'd be fine with 9 or 10.

What did you get as favors $10.00 per child? I know its really easy to get carried away with these things. I have been there done that.

Boxes by Do Me a Favor filled with an assortment of dollar store crap that probably most of the parents will hide from the kids Chat Icon Actually, I'm finding now that half the stuff I bought for the boxes doesn't fit (coloring books too big) so something may have to go back - or go in Ryan's Easter basket Chat Icon

That's what I figured - 9 pies with one cut in 16 slices for kids. 9x15=$135 plus tax/tip

Pizza is always a PITA bc you never want to run out, but at the same time, (at GTGs) we always have too much

I discovered that parties that you think are going to be cheap, never are!!

I had DD's party at my SIL's home and thought that I would save a ton of money. No way!! I bet that party cost us $1,000Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Live and Learn I guess. For now on I am adding up everything before hand and seeing the pros, cons, and prices for everything. And now I am realizing that most things are not necessary.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: My budget party for Ryan is no longer...

Okay I am not trying to feed the sickness here, but I would totally get the cupcakes. I am only having 40 people for DS' 1st bday and I am already calculating at least $1,000 spent(and the party is not for another month) and I am not even getting entertainment. Most of the kids are his age so everyone has talked me out of entertainment but there is a small piece of me that feels "cheap" not having any.

If you can afford it I say do it!

I love the cupcakes. At this point, I agree... What is another $75?

This is coming from someone that spent about $700 on a home party with 15 people for a 1st bday. Chat Icon

I have to agree with the girls who said they would notice & remember a really cute batch of cupcakes or a cake. I definitely would.

I know it's easy to say NOT to get them so you save some money- but I would have to get them.Chat Icon

I definitely will too. Whenever I do ANYTHING and my DH says "no one will notice" I always say, there's got to be someone else LIKE ME out there who will. But I admit that I'm not like most people when it comes to this silliness.

I Chat Icon you Christine.

And $15/pie seems pricey to me. This weekend we tried a new place and we got 4 pies for less than $40, but it was Patchogue...That's a big price difference!
