My DD cut her upper lip Frenulum - anyone have experience with this?
My DD was playin tonight -RIGHT NEXT TO ME - she slipped off her step stool and got hit by toy accidentally, she started screaming and crying in pain , then started bleeding from her mouth , blood gushing all over the place, I couldn't stop bleeding no matter what I tried and couldn't figure out where it was coming from, it just kept coming, I had her rinse her mouth with cold water and peroxide mix and finally the bleeding stopped, I checked and realized that her frenalum (the part attaching an upper lip to her gums) is cut/ torn, it looks pretty bad. She was in so much pain . Thank god my PED was still in the office when I called, he said as long as it's not bleeding it's ok for tonight and to bring her to a dentist tomorrow. I gave her Tylenol for pain and it helped a bit. She refused to eat and went to sleep hungry I am so sick over this and feel like the worst mother in the workd, of course being pregnant doesn't help, I started having little contractions when the whole thing was going on bc I got so upset , but didn't want DD to see I was upset and scared. So anyway, I'm keeping her Home from school tomorrow and will try to bring her to my dentist, hers isn't in tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone else? What did the dr say? did they do stitches or did it heal on it's own? How long did it take for it to heal?

My DD just did this a few weeks ago. she is 15 months. It stopped bleeding on its own pretty quickly...probably less than 5 min but when I looked it looked like it was totally torn. We didn't take her in since it stopped bleeding. It was almost fully healed the next day!!!! the mouth heals so fast. She was also fine the next day ate and drank like usual.
Hope your dd feels better

Crashing here. .. I had something like this happen when *I* was a kid!!! I remember it hurt so bad and was very bloody- I think it actually happened to me twice! I remember going to the dentist and it just healed on it's own. I don't remember how long it took- but at least in my case, I never needed stitches for it.

Thanks girls! DD is still sleeping, I hope it looks better when she wakes up, at least she slept all night and didn't wake up in pain. I'll decide about going to a dentist once she is awake, depends how she feels and how it looks. She hates doctors
