My DD is almost 1 and has never really fed herself from her bottle...

...I mean, she can and has once or twice and she drinks from a sippy, but she never hold her own bottle. Should I be concerned?

my DD is 10 months and a complete "diva" She refuses to hold her own bottle/sippy, feed herself, etc....

Sometimes she will, most often not. I wouldn't be concerned.

Abby doesn't hold her bottle either and she is 15 months. She CAN hold it. She doesn't want to. She has done it before. She drinks juice and water from sippy cups and refuses to drink milk from sippy cups. We have tried many different types but she only takes her milk one way - in a bottle being held.

Am I concerned? Not really. If she were physically unable to do it, then I would be. Will I let her do without the milk because I want her to learn? No. She needs her nutrition as she just dropped a percentile in weight. Like everything else in her life, she will do it when she is ready.

ie refuses to hold her bottle at 10 months. She will feed herself food and sippy but will not hold her bottle!

If she's holding her sippy I wouldn't be concerned, it wasn't until DD started drinking from the sippy that she decided she wanted to hold her bottle tooChat Icon

My DD JUST started doing this at 11 mths. What I kept doing was reclining her high chair (it reclines, in 3 positions). I would rest the bottle of something and DD would start to pick it up. With a week or two, she started totally holding it, when reclined a bit. Now she holds it high even in an upright position. I dont think you have any reason to be concerned at all;Chat Icon

Lily never held her bottle. Not once.
I didn't mind for 2 reasons....
She was off of bottles pretty quickly and easily once she started gaining independence at about 15 months...because she didn't want to have to depend on us.
and
Selfishly, I LOVED that time with her a couple of times a day when I could just hold her and it was peaceful and she would drink her bottle and gaze up at me and play with my hands and fingers....Chat Icon

Katie never held her own bottle. She was fine learnign how to hold the sippy cup. I feel like she just didnt get that she could do the bottle herself. I think she was just used to my doing it.

DS is the same way. I know that he can but do it but he doesn't. I have not pushed it because I love holding him in my arms and feeling like he needs meChat Icon . He does hold his own straw sippy cup.
